    Default Skateboards and garage sales

I had the opportunity today to hang out at my cousin's garage sale. Not only did I make a little extra cash by cleaning out some junk. Anyway I got bored, so I grabed my deck and headed out in search of ?. The whole township was involved btw. Didn't find anything worth buying except for a tall cool glass of lemonade which hit the spot, and for $.25 it tasted damn good.

One this I did find is a skateboard is the perfect way to garagesale. It is fast and easy to manuever through the streets clogged with automobiles, plus you can get a good view of stuff and see if it's worth stopping or not.

Seriously, where does it say that garage sales have to be absurdly early in the morning?

i did the same thing last year and was able to find a guy who sold me 2 sets of 80a ish 70mm sideset wheels and a set of the composite 8mm axel seismics (the ones with the bolts in the axel) for 18 bucks all together. and all the wheels came with bearings and spacers.

i also found an old pool deck all tricked out with tracker argos, coppers, some nice hard wheels, and tailbone nosebone and rails. it is 10x34 and i bought it for 3 dollars from a man in his late 50s. i gave this board to my sisters friend so she could start skateboarding.

    now that is value!

found an airmax air cleaner at this one neighborhood garage sale a year ago the size of a refrigerator. it was from an auto body shop that closed. thing goes for a couple thou and i picked it up for $50 (the new filters alone cost me more than that to replace). if i wasn't skating around from sale to sale i wouldn't have had a way to get it home!

When I was 12 I went around my small town (800 people) in search of a skateboard on garage sale day. I found an old variflex flattie with all the plastic, stock everything. It had soft wheels even. I learned how to skate on it, it has since been repainted and given away, but the fact is garage sales are a perfect hiding place for those sweet skate gems.

My friend found a complete old-school board at a Value Village for only $3! On top of that, it worked perfectly! As in like its bearings were better than most decks you get nowadays!

    no, it's garage sale season.

i have been and will continue to comb flea markets, garage/yard/estate/rummage sales and thrift and antique stores for "sweet skate gems".

wait till i get a chance to upload the pics of my buddies recent antique store find... an unbelievably true skate gem!
