Horrible funny story

I had a new pair of wheels comig in the mail and a fresh set of bearings for them so I stopped taking care of my current ones. I was riding down a road about 20k away from my house and my front left bearing stopped spinning completely and friction happened. Somehow the nut came completely off causing my wheel to fall off and me to almost eat it. As I'm running and trying to keep my balance and not fall from the momentum of the sudden stoppage two trucks almost run over my board. Luckily somebody I knew icked me up and I got a ride. My new wheels came today and I pu them on but I was missig the nut from the front left wheel. I found one that fit but it was too long and the threads were at the top so I flipped it upside down and it worked. I was almost at the end of my little ride and was at a bottom of a small hill that is usually pretty slow but hey,new bearings. All of a sudden my board stops and I go flying. The last think I see before I hit the ground hard is my nbrand new 81a 70mm 70's flashback rolling down the road. I looked all over and couldn't find it so I went home and grabbed my parents car(I just got my liscense today) and thought the headlights would help me out, but alas,I couldn't find the @$##@ wheel. It's dark now so I'm going to look tomorrow morning and hope that the dew doesn't rust my brand new bearing.

That's heartbreaking.

But I suppose just another lesson learned the hard way about not taking care of your gear.

You hope the dew doesn't wreck your bearing. That's the spirit, bud! I hope you find a $50 bill in the gutter when you retrieve the missing flashback.

Oh, use some of the found money to buy some new axle nuts.

that sucks.lol. good luck man! well, the truth is I havent cleaned or taken care of my shortboard bearings once for 6 years. I also left my board outside for four winters (im in canada). they roll like #@$% now but they have never locked or anything!

I left my shortboard out for one canadian winer and the plies have come apart,I could take the board apart in layers if I wanted too.

Sadly I wasn't able to find the wheel. This really blows.

My suggestion: email Mark @ MHS and see if he would part wheels and sell you just one. If you tell him your situation I bet he would be willing to help you out.

That's so weird, because today, I was just walking and found a brand new set of wheels in a ditch at the bottom of a road! 70mm flashbacks in 80a with mint condition bearings, like they just fell off somebody's ride!
