    Default Homemade Freebord

I wanted the freebord so bad, so I decided to make it my self. I longboarded to ACE Hardware and got Swivels (about $11 dollars for 2).

I got on an rode it; It was very unstable and slow. Greased the wheels up, and it was riding smooth and carved like a snowboard. I made it today. Now im going to transfer it over to my homemade board. Its 7 inches wide, 48 inches long, and stained blue. Ill post pictures once i get my smelly hands on them.

haha cool. I thought about trying something like that since all the freebord has (that a regular skateboard doesn't have) are those swivel wheels. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but I'd like to see the pics.

i upgraded my longboard, i replace the original swivil wheels with some 100 mm scooter wheels. im going to install skyhooks, which are the most integrel piece.

Here is a stupid video, just to show you it actually slides

That's a good idea! How does it ride with the new wheels and such? Is the height of the swivels correct or did you have to use risers?

oh forgot to say stitches from my experience with freebords (i imagine this would be quite the same) they are too hard to pusah on flats.

id be really curious to see how it rides comparied to a freebord. i bought casters and rollerblade wheels a few months back planning to make one out of an old short deck but ended up aquiring a freebord so never really finished.

having taking my freebord apart many-a-time to fix the caster i can tell you the biggest difference between the 2 setups.

-freebord casters dont spin freely like traditional casters
(lets see how well i attempt to explain this)
inside the freebord caster, there is an oval shaped part attached to the swiveling caster, a piece of metal applies pressure to the oval when ever it swivels and is not lined up straigh with the board, think they call it RTC, return to center.
basically this helps return you to a straigh position after sliding.

my suggestions on a freebord alternative would be to mount some wide trucks, mabe 10 or 11 inch gullwings with big 85mm kryptos, to each kick tail on a shortdeck, and mount the casters in the origional truck holes. mount 67mm rollerblade wheels or similar in place of the plastic caster wheels.
this should feel very similar to a freebord but as for the RTC of the casters, still havent figured that out yet, but hey if it works without it, ride it.

heck i feel inspired, mabe ill give it a try!

haha, mad, don't think it'd ride that well to a real freebord though, i think it'd be really twitchy seeing as it has such a small wheel base.
