Default Kudos to Chicago & Snowchick. Boo to Shorties.

I gotta tell you all that Snowchick is gonna be dangerous. The girl is a natural and gaining confidence big time with hills, speed control and city skating. Had a great session in Chicago in what reminded us of a skatepark for longboarders or even ski runs with different levels of difficulty. Smoooove and steep, beautiful park all around. Had to skate 10 miles to get there, but well worth it. Nice ride home in the dark, too.

We ran into some Ollie poppers when I went to bomb the big hill. I blew past them, then came back to chat. Sid Viscious's first question to me: "What ABEC rating are your bearings?" I told him the rule of thumb, "ABECs are for machines, Bones are for people". Told him to at least get Reds. Would love to watch him try to bail or topple off that hill at speed on that little toy board.

After Snowchick & I parted company, I went down the stairs to go under the road to Lake Shore Drive. I heard some young girl yell from a car, "Get a REAL skateboard!" I was lauging so hard I was actually at a loss for words. So much to say but none of it would ever hit home with her. Yeah, little kid, teach the old man about "real" skateboards....
Hard head, old school...the exception to the rule.

I agree, what a dumbass bitch. Out in Santa Monica, people love the long board. Here in indiana (college) poeple are interested, but scared to be "maybe not cool because....". I love watching them try to do tricks on stair rails and stuff and eat sh*t in front of everyone. Then they get up like "aahh duuuude I ahmost haad itt!" hopeless

More people out here all cool with it.. shortboarders love riding my longies.. but whatever. i dunno.. currently i feel like blowing off my summer classes & just going out with some hardcore graphitti murals and some skate & destroi attitude when im not hangin with my homies & burnin. doubt it'll happen tho, however my good buddies halfbro whos awesome at skatin is comin down for the whole summer & i think me & him'll get pretty close.. so we'll have a cool skate crew & finally have some people to hit up some parks.

Thanks for the props, VegasAlien. 8)
I'm bringing a camera next time to snap pics of that area; the place is unreal, like a mini-resort for longboarders who like to bomb various-incline hills.
I do think that the wind slowed me down enough to be comfortable going down those ramps. Hopefully I'll have protective gear by the time we can go back. :hmm:

that'd be awesome, snowchick... i'd really like to see this place, it sounds awesome. though you'd think i'd be fine, next to the foothills of the rocky mtns and all, but i havent found many streets that are low on traffic, and i like to carve them out (no way im bombing on original trucks)
