I'm guessing someone would have posted already if they tried this recently. I have an oak flex 2 vanguard I'm considering cutting down. Does anyone have a template? Has anyone ridden one to compare it to a "standard" LDP deck?

that yellow one's a keeper because one friend shaped it and another good friend professionally painted it, but there should be one more VG in the garage pre-cut and not yet drilled or gripped, i'll post that up later if someone wants it-- it was a flex2 so cutting it down made it a pretty stiff flex1. the mods I really wanted beyond the chop-down was more width, and less camber. if loaded ever jumped on this, i'm sure they'd do well.

as for the Roe wait -- with the CNC in place, Gareth's last 10 boards made it out between 2--4 weeks, so things have improved for real. i'm even going to finally own a "real" Mermaid, since I've been riding the proto for two years now
    Hey there...a couple of questions:

    I own a Sector9
    Blue Carbon Trylam
    9" Gullwing Charger Trucks,
72mm/78a nineball wheels, I love the way it pumps and I wanted to know what copuld improve the ride in general, changing bushing, wheels and adding angled wedgers or all of the above?

What wheel would work better than the original ones i have on now?

    thanks!

You could add some wedge riser pads. That would help with the pumping. At least it would be a cheap/good start...

Yeah I would also like to have little wider (9.25+) and more concave so I won't slip out.

Bzigs or Zigs. U want TRACTION if you want to pump. I like pumping zigs better (70mm), more responsible feeling IMO and ride becomes a smoothie.

70mm zigs on all my pumpers too, except the vanny, which runs with pink gumballs.
That cut back vanguard is bad-ass I can't believe I missed this thread the first time around!

    So Loaded hasn't responded yet?

Barefoot Ted pumped 242 miles in 24 hours on a Subsonic Pulse that James loaned him. Maybe Loaded could sponsor Ted?

This is what Ted says about the Pulse on my forum, and another quote from his:

    "
Couple weeks later, James lets me borrow that magic board. My gawd what a beautiful, magical thing it is...Subsonic Pulse 40."

    and

    "
just to let everyone know my secret:

    1. Be sure you have an excellent LDP (long distance pumping) board...I did (see Subsonic Pulse 40)
    ."

    Notice, he says Subsonic.

That cut-down yellow Vanguard I made and tested back in the beginning of 2007, and the improvements it drastically needed played a part in the development of the Pulse -- more width, no camber, and more choices in concave. And Scott is awesome at custom-dialing in flex.

The one I'm testing right now is a Rev 2.0, with slightly more concave and a slight touch of camber -- I hope to get Ted on this one as well and post up impressions later!

I would love to see a LDP, slide, and slalom deck from loaded, but they're always working on something. In a few years i wouldn't be surprised if loaded had all of those.

So I finished it this morning. It rides so well! I pumped a couple hours on it. It's very snappy and there is little flex. I'm using Indy 215s with a random bushing set-up for now. But I feel it'd be a lot better once I buy a set of those Bennett 6.0s and some new wheels. I'll post pics tomorrow.

We had a back and forth with them over several weeks. Their product lifecycle (development, testing, re-work, etc) and decisions to add to the line take much longer than the small board builders -- eventually they'd be churning out boards in the hundreds/thousands. So it makes sense they're slower to make the jump.

Personally I'm glad to see Roe, Subsonic, and LBL apply their individual constructions to building these with their unique layup styles. And Gareth and Scott race their own boards as well, so they have a really keen understanding of performance-oriented flex and how to tweak it.

Vulgar, nice recycling! I found my flex2 turned into around a flex0 (a bit off the stiffness charts) so if I modded another Vanny I'd probably start out with a flex4 oak.

I'm not the biggest fan of Loaded as a whole. Although I do like a few things about the company. Even still though some of the mods I am seeing people do to Vangaurds are awesome.

Amazing. If flow and pump had one word dedicated to both of them, it would be that.

I'll put a video up soon. My bro needs to come film this time. That Arcane video I made didn't show how good of a pumper it was because I had to hold the camera the whole time
