So I threw this together today and realized that if I made them in a production quality, they might be marketable. Would anyone be interested in one for 35 bucks plus shipping? Just trying to see if anyone would want one. All hardware included for mounting to drywall. Not looking to spam anyone here, just judging demand and whether I should set up some templates for making these things.
Blix - Thanks for the suggestion, but I designed it to support the board from the center. Having the weight of a complete on one edge of the concave while in long term storage is not a good idea IMHO. It may not do anything quickly, but over time it could affect the concave. Especially on custom built decks.
Cheefa - How many slots do you want? Shipping might get expensive if it's over 6 ft. The slots are 5" apart, so you can figure the length for what you want. Yours would be custom and thus a non-production one off. I would need to adjust the price a bit. PM me if you are seriously interested.
Everyone else - First off, thanks for the opinions and compliments. Are you guys good with the price point? They would be a natural finish or could be stained or varnished to your preference for a couple of bucks extra. The package would come with assembly screws and wall mount toggles (not ez-anchors or plug anchors, those would pull out). I will go buy lumber tomorrow if you guys are serious...
I have been staring at mine all evening. I love just grabbing a board off the rack and heading for the street. I was thinking about adding a helmet hook at the bottom.
PS> Cheefa- The "fathom" is awesome. I can shape one for you from a cracked dervish and brackets from G-Bomb (brackets are 60 from G-Bomb). We can work a price on shaping and setup.

We'll talk later on this, my dervish has some pretty gnarlly cracks in the cut-out holes and the glass is looking like its about to split. So eventually I'd have a dervish for this.

I would be interested, I just need to buy my new board, then this would be my next thing to buy! I've been looking for a good rack to store my boards and this looks perfect

I knew there was a reason that I saved my cuttings from the Dervish. I can bolt them up to any deck and use them for a shaping guide. The thing rides awesome. I would almost say it would be worth it to buy a deck and a set of brackets just with the intention of making one. But I would shed a tear cutting up a brand new Dervish. Even if it was to make it even better. If you stay away from nose manuals, this thing is perfect. PM me when you get ready to build one, great way to salvage a deck that is damaged this way. The crack ends up right in the middle of the bracket mounts and is reinforced by the aluminum. I have had no problems out of mine. I think that I am going to try some Bennett 6.0's on it tonight.
Ok, so I have decided to make a go at this project given the comments. I am going to make templates and do a production run of 10 the first time through. Finished ply, sanded edges. I will pre-assemble them and then take them apart for packaging/shipping.
Cost will be 35 bucks plus shipping.
Get your pre-orders in now via PM to me.
I am adding this thread to my sig to see if anyone else is interested.
I will let you guys know when I get started.
Anyone with custom rack requests can hit me with a PM as well. I can design in anything that you need that is feasible.
All production cuts are going to be done on an inverted router (router table), so clean, smooth, rounded edges will be abundant.
