I really want to learn everything about speedboarding: what to buy, what to wear, where to go, who to talk to, and most of all, how to get more comfortable with going fast.
Start by getting off the internet - no seriously. Go out and ride. Focus on footbraking and sliding at high speeds. This is essetial as you will need to stop fast when skating fast. You'll learn more out on your board than you ever will online. The most important thing is to have fun with it. If it's not fun, your doing it wrong.
Unfortunately I'm sick right now and it's rainy in Boston, so I can't ride, but where would I learn the basics of sliding?
well if you have plenty of time on ur hands, do a bit of research for yourself. all those questions have been answered and u will be missing out on some very good ones if u decide not to search

most of these tutorials are done on shorter decks but the principals are the same. Also, don't let the rain keep you from skating. Being sick is another thing though.....
mcgoon is correct. You can practice them slides on a board with no trucks and wheels inside in the warm if you're sick. I also reccommend lots of pressups, I keep having my arms collapse underneath me hehe

No apology necessary. When we start thinking that we know everything there is to know we stop learning. Try and stay in a Noob state of mind, so that you never stop progressing.

Hah, yeah that's it. I've been skating for about 8 and a half years now and still feel like a noob a lot of the time. That's the beauty of skating, always so much more to experience!

Another place to visit if you can is Wheelabrator (click image in my sig) it's a kind of Longboarders skatepark with a beginers downhill, a slide hill and downhill bikepath. Not too fast (35mph) wide and a long rollout if you need it. There will be gathering there at least once a month (sundays only) for the remainder of the year

Wow. Thats huge. I dunno if I can get all the way from Boston to there. My cousins live around there, we go there sometimes. Looks pretty gnarly. Thanks man.
