There have always been cheap, crappy skateboards in big box stores. They usually aren't much fun to ride. In the future we might see larger ones with soft wheels; but they'll still be cheap and crappy and probably won't be much fun to ride.

There are longboard companies out there that specialize in boards for the big box stores, like Target. Target could, and may, stock completes from San Diego Speed (ironically, not from Diego), Krown, "No Fear" and others that rebrand like the "No Fear" boards are. I'd expect Target's price point to be about where Walmart's is: no more than $70.
The big break for consumers will be when you start seeing these toy-boards with those Randal ripoffs from China or other, similar, longboard trucks. When kids' first taste includes a carving truck, it will mean more.
