The shops in my area are mostly shortboard based. I have to order risers, bushings, and hardware from MHS. The kids in the shop don't understand angled risers or longer hardware. Longboards are rare but they do occasionally get them but never the right trucks or wheels for em. Another shop sells Sector 9 completes and thats about it.
my local shop f*ckin rocks! this is my nearest skateshop of ANY type, and british skate shops are well known for having a wall with a rack of (shortboard) decks that all look the same and not having the slightest clue of what a longboard is. well i can garuntee you these guys are totally different, they stock mainly mountainboards but also a load of longboards. and bit of shortboard stuff too, but who cares about that?
Although my nearest shop is basically a shortboard shop/culture, it's got a few Sector 9 longboards sitting there (helps that the Sector 9 owners have an interest in the shop, I suppose), but San Diego has a lot of skateboard shops. Once you get into Pacific Beach, you can hit FibreFlex/Sk8Supply (drool factor on the board collection, but limited stock) and several others.
However, it's the mailorder shops, even the local ones, that have the best stock of parts and often the best prices. I have spent decent money at Solidskate (orange county), LongboardLiquidators (Pacific Beach, no storefront) and Mile High Skates because they've got what I need. And, of course, if I'm spending enough, the absence of Sales Tax makes up for shipping.
All I really have Is a Zumies about 45 min away. Ya know basic shortboard stuff. So im set with hardware and bearings(?) and thats it. They have 3 sector 9 longboards which pretty much suck. And a pair of randals but only comes complete for like 150$. I also have a TSX but theyre no good.

actually the zumiez has a set if nineballs and tsx has a surf one complete. not that they are good. i asked them for wedged risers and they have never heard of them yet they were on the completes
A lot of people who have ordered a bozi from
jeff are pretty upset.
There are quite a few posts on ncdsa about people waiting up to
6 month's without even an e mail from jeff letting them know the
status of their order.
And, then they hear about jeff giving away free boards at races
and I guess it would kind of make your blood boil.
He should just shoot out an e mail to all his open orders just to
let people know what's up.
Hopefully everything is ok with him.
I just scored a free bozi mb 2.

Weel now my local shop is purple skunk so :P ....
I only visited them once but I came back home with a landy evo (I could not come from france with my boards .... Too hard to travel with, Customs consider a fibreflex or a chronic as a weapon in this contry and I don't let the guys from the airport touching them)
My local shop is starting a longboarding company called Edje. They've already made a dozen or so decks and are finalizing a few more shapes this summer. They have a few in stock now but are planning on picking up a bunch more. How bad-ass! A couple of the employees have done a few of the loaded challenges too. We're planning on holding weekly Sunday night longboard sessions but it hasn't started yet. I'm pumped! Hopefully we can get a good skate team going soon.
Since the new evo has the green graphic, does that mean the board will go faster? I heard they used a lighter paint, which makes the board lighter and faster?:-k
guaranteed best price out there! (loaded dancer for $330! complete!)

The local shop here honestly only sells flush hardware like for the shorties. I have to get my flat-head hardware from home depot... which isn't bad at all honestly because its DIRT cheap. Shock pads can also get cut out of neoprene sheets that you can get at osh by the square foot for dirt cheap too
the guys at my local are pretty cool not big on longboards but i get odds and ends there. hardware, grip, and that kinda stuff.

It sucks, they hate longboarders. think were kooks. hide all the longboard stuff in the back. Sell Sector 9's thinking they're the greatest longboards but only sell like 3. And have the crappiest wheels you could ever want.
I say you move Mile High Skates over here to NorCal!
