if i had a dime for everytime i walked into a skate shop and asked for bearing spacers and the guy behind the counter looks at me like i just asked him an SAT math problem..................id have 60 more cents in my pocket
I'd have $1.10 Even the chain BC surf and skate, who sells loaded, S9, Abec11, etc.. didn't have any spacers(or rings) at two stores!! luckily a fellow fisher(SurfBum) works at a place that did....though their board selection is crap.. no wonder he grabbed his dropspeed from rstack...

my local store called Wavelines is mostly a surf/skate store. but they do carry s9 boards, wheels, and some indies and gullwings. but theres this one guy who when i go usually works the board counter (and he always looks so depressed....) ill buy hardware or spacers and all he'd do is set a drill and a screwdriver in front of me and walk off somewhere else (prolly unpacking more stuff. LOL)
Around here stuf is not htat bad, but not good either..
I go to the guy at the store and ast for flat bushing washers. the guy sais: that does not exist.
I ask: what kind of spacer this wheel use? the answer is: DUH! there is ony one kind! it is impossible to have diferent kinds of spacers!
(this from guys who sell 76mm, 80mm 85mm kryptos and krypgrip, as well as shortboard wheels...)
and so on, so son, so on.... I can buy bolts, i can buy kryptos and moskas... but i just dont realy ask stuf anymore... i just ask to see what they got and figure it out by myself...
I got the same answer from my shop except I was asking about bearings and what spacers they came with. he said the bearing spacers are a gimmick and that every REAL skater doesn't use them and none of his team skaters use them... but all his team skaters are shortboards who use hard-sh!t wheels so what do they know about spacers?
Plus, when the guy was explaining all this bullcrap to me, his tool friend was like "Yeah, spacers are a joke dude..." , trying to make me feel like a kook, but i do my research... they barely carry REDZ anymore... they sell pice of crap Indy bearings... the guy believes everything he hears... doesn't think for his farking self.
here in brazil, the TOP OF THE TOP are S9s, and Kryptos Classics are "the best".
you will easily find things for shortboarders though...
i told my friend, who hapens to DH where he lives, and i was "hey man, i'm thinking about buying that landyatchz(wedge flex) and randalls and..."
he was "#### THAT, BUY SECTOR 9! THE BEST BOARDS EVER, I MEAN YOU DROP IT ON FLOOR AND YOU CAN HEAR HOW SWEET THE WOOD SOUNDS"
and i was like (omg, i know i'm a noob, but i guess i will hang around the guys at the 'fish)
it's funny coz i got interested about longboard hearing from him... but he is such a tool, and has many friends that are douches(even people who steal Credit Cards and SS numbers...), so i decided to go through this longboarding thing alone. you know... better off alone.
ONCE i saw someone with a dervish. i wished i had stopped him to ask how he got it, and where he rides.
and even this tool friend buy things from etailers at us...
There are some surf shops around here that pretend they know about longboarding but they don't. They stock only sector 9, gravity, and recently arbor completes and don't have enough of a selection to upgrade them.
My local shop actually its kick ass a whole room of longboard stuff and still growng every day they carry every loaded gear, lots of gravity,arbor,S9,LY,abec11.seismic,khiro eventually they have some EW,and never summer and some other non so popular brands, bennet, paris, randal, tracker, independent, lot of shorth boards.
every skate shoe brand on the market and good specials,Vans for 15 bucks can't beat that.
70's clothing and hand crafted silver jewelry, and birkenstock shoes.
prices on completes are retail, but longboard parts are some times cheaper than internet places.
its called
TRADEWINDS COVE in Cristal Lake IL.

i have one local shop
it's pretty decent, two of my friends work there so its always cool to go down to the shop and chill or whatever. they had some sector9s and loadeds last season and this year they got a whole neversummer rack full of completes and now they always have randals (even 42s) and decent bushings (khiros in softer duros than 95a and 98a) that they dont mind parting out of completes. they also sometimes have a set of bigzigs or inheats laying around, although usually you order them from the catalogue. since they deal with loaded, sector nine, retro and neversummer you can pretty much get a decent set of wheels (otangs, s9 rf, bigzigs/zigzags) and a pretty good deck (ns, loaded) anytime you walk in there. They also have spacers and speedrings for real cheap (4 aluminum spacers and 8 speedrings for $2).
of course they're shortboard heavy but they have good safety gear and an indoor park which is badass.
they are pretty much a shortboard/snowboard shop along with all the clothing and shoes but they only sell pretty quality ####. I think they've replaced all they're S9's with Neversummers now.
its also pretty nice to see a concrete wave alongside thrasher and sbc skateboarding at the desk.
Okinawa, Japan....
$80 for Aces
$60 for Bones STFs
$130 for a shop board....

The skate shops here have a pretty limited selection of longboards... only sector 9 and arbor. But as of recently there is now a loaded dervish and vanguard for sale.. complete with chargers and inheats for over $300..
As if that wasn't sad enough, they also don't carry bearing spacers or truss head mounting hardware. Not to mention their selection of bushings consist of 4 different colors of doh dohs.
the only shop that carries longboards is wallerbears board shop. they carry about ten differnt sector 9 boards. thats it. there basicaly isnt a skate shop
Closest thing to a local shop I have here would probably be Cowtown, as that's the only store that even sells longboard stuff. And even then, all they sell are completes.
So yes, they suck.
Edit:
They are, however, stocked with shortboard crap. Completes + parts. Also carry clothes & have an entire wall filled with SB Dunks.
yep colorado shops pretty much suck. except bc surf&sport is pretty good. they have alot of wheels and what not. many loaded and never summer boards. they just have high prices somtimes. and they are 45 min away from me
Local shop called Flip'd they carry Loaded, S9, Arbor, LBL, and a few other brands. They're one of like 10 world wide vendors of LBL. They also have a huge selection of wheels, from Otangs to Abec 11s. Paris, Gullwings, Randals. Even have some pink Randals and some sig Adam Colton Paris'. They don't sell completes. You pick out your deck, then they give you the rundown on all the trucks, then give you the run down on all the wheels. You pick it all and they assemble it right there. It's amazing. Especially in Oklahoma. I <3 Flip'd.
Sector Nines gallor. As the guy behind the counter told me " To of the line bro ". Alot of popsicle sticks. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws

I went to the local skate shop, which is all about shortboarding, and asked for bearing spacers. The clerk said, "you know you don't need them, right?"
