I actually think s9 boards are pretty cool, nice graphics great selection, my local shop only stocks s9 boards and shortboards oh and some powell boards(nice)
Ive actualy got 2 local board shops www.flipsideboardshop.com and push, which is ok but they really kinda suck they dont even have a cash register. push definately sells to shortboard trick skate culture they pretty much ignore you . flipside however will order what ever you need, they've been the same locale for13 years and wel they rock.
okok im not a speed demon a racer a board builder a slolom runner(crap i misspelled slalom)i ride the hills around my house and i bit it today. but i like pie. cherry is ok I love rhubarb. o ohoh I love keylime pie and lemon merange pie . chocolate pie is good too. oh what?? where was I oh Sector 9 "selling out" ummmm wont really affect me exept it will be easier to get hardware and wheels> mmmmmmmmm I want pie

Re: Sector 9 Sold to Billabong Surf
You can't really hate anyone at Sector9 for being good businessmen. Now, they are financially independent and can afford to skate all day long every day, if they like. Except they'll have to choosed between that, and taking a dip in their custom infinity pool while the bikini-clad pool girls towel them off afterwards, on those hot days.
Since the decimal positions are out so far, I can guarantee this is a business-logic based purchase. That means financial calculations were done based on how much revenue is generated from current prices, and possibly factoring in the growth rate compared to average growth rate in the industry...
The purpose either being keeping the prices the same, or possibly increasing them to exploit the "law of supply and demand" while increasing profit.
...not because someone at Billabong said "Oh snap... tsk. Look at that. Those Sector9 guys have gone way too mainstream. Let's buy the company and make it grass-roots again, shall we?"
Definitely not.
Now - what would be a good indicator of what Billabong's plans for the future of Sector9, would be to look up each company's annual report (they might even be available online). Right at the beginning is generally the company mission statement. It shouldn't be all doubletalk... it should speak clearly to the factors that affect the company's decisions, and what decisions will be made, where growth is going to be targeted, etc.
You MIGHT actually get something, by comparing the two mission statements - realizing that now Billabong's exists where Sector9's may have gone away (unless Billabong believes it fundamentally drives Sector9's profitability).
It may be that the mission statements are very very similar. Or, it may be that Billabong has no interst in developing new products for the future of Sector9. Those would be the only two ways tha Sector9 would keep operating the way it always has, IMO.

Re: Sector 9 Sold to Billabong Surf
Sector 9 are sellouts, the boards are getting crappier and on the verge of turning to wal*mart boards and lets face it, GullWings suck. Billabong will probably make them even cheaper but not as good quality either.

sector9 decks are pretty damn high quality, they're race form wheels are amazing and becoming my favorite wheel because of their smooth drift and chargers are great trucks, infact normal mission ones are sick with good bushings.

As for me, I say good for them. They turned a huge profit on something they, I'm sure, enjoy intensely. Good for you Sector 9.
Right there with you. Couldn't have said it anymore precisely.
