Awesome stove, I've had mine for years. Not the lightest, but one of the most reliable hard-working stoves out there.

The difference between the 2.8 and the 4.0 is the aperature size, smaller the number the more the lens can open up thus letting in more light as well as making it a "quicker" lens in lower light situations. as well as the 2.8 has image stabilization which is fancy mumbo jumbo that a steady hand shouldnt need.

what you pay for in lenses like this are the glass, and canon L series lenses all have amazing glass.

Yeah, they make an f4 IS and non IS 2.8 as well, both of which are still way out of my range. The f4 is also 3/4 of the size of the 2.8 so it's not as much of a hassle to carry around.

That's what I like to hear. I was looking for something that was all-season, reliable and durable. Weight wasn't a huge issue however it was a factor. This is the one the guy at the store suggested. I'm a big fan of its multifuel abilities.

I had a plywood board and it snapped while I was riding it, so I bought a cheapo CarveOne deck of eBay and slapped some Randal 180's on it. It rides surprisingly well - 47 inches, maple, and lots of flex - you can carve really well. The only problems I have with it come at about 40MPH, where my Randals start to get unstable. Also, I had to put wedges on it because the wheel wells were just a little bit too close to the trucks and I got some pretty nice wheel bite. But anyway, it's the best board i've ever rode that was less then $110. Even if it doesn't slide very well...

Oh yes, I also decided that I needed some sliding gloves, so I bought welding gloves and glued some huge rocks to them. So far it's worked out, strangely.
2010 Insane Asylum III figure - Veloz V5 trucks, 80a IA wheels
    46" Oak deck - no trucks wheels right now. ( :'( )
38" Campus board made from snowboard - Randal 180's, 70mm ebay wheels, crappy bushings. Still shreds like a blender.

alright, stupid question but what exactly are those handheld ones capable of doing? do they have names of roads, or just trails, or speed? i really want to know because those things look cool and handy!
