I had a plywood board and it snapped while I was riding it, so I bought a cheapo CarveOne deck of eBay and slapped some Randal 180's on it. It rides surprisingly well - 47 inches, maple, and lots of flex - you can carve really well. The only problems I have with it come at about 40MPH, where my Randals start to get unstable. Also, I had to put wedges on it because the wheel wells were just a little bit too close to the trucks and I got some pretty nice wheel bite. But anyway, it's the best board i've ever rode that was less then $110. Even if it doesn't slide very well...

Oh yes, I also decided that I needed some sliding gloves, so I bought welding gloves and glued some huge rocks to them. So far it's worked out, strangely.

Just fyi, mile high skates has had some nice looking gravity and sector nine type price point brand completes for like $100 even lately.

and idk if you're joking about the welding gloves (for some reason I don't think so), but if not, you really ought to look into investing another $25 on decent fitted gloves and plastic pucks.
