from the pic looks like there is sharper cave on the left side of the board, which would actually make it "optimized" for goofy riders

It is VERY slightly higher on that side, yes, but it is completely unnoticable when riding. Part of it is also that my trucks don't sit perfectly flat so they angle the board over a bit too. Don't be turned off of the deck because the concave isn't perfect, half the boards I've ridden, by any maker, have had slight differences in concave.
