I'm sorry but anyone who says Zumiez sucks because of their skate selection fails.
Zumiez is not a skate store!!! It is a clothing store that has some skateboards and longboards. When have you EVER gone into an actual skate shop and not seen shirts or shoes? Would you say that they're a sh!tty store because they don't carry a huge selection of clothes? No because that's not what they specialize in, they just have a few items that people might be interested in while they're looking at what they're really selling.
/the explanation for people who think that Zumiez is a skate shop.
I will add that I don't shop at Zumiez because their clothes are expensive as hell and not my style. I would rather buy cheap sh!t.

these shops are strange, you walk into one, carring your old beaten board under your arm, wearing some cheap shorts wiht a few holes in and an old shirt, and they look at you like some kind of tramp and think 'no way does this guy skate.. hes not even wearing brand clothing! and his shoes are all ripped! what a poser.'
im just talking about skate/clothing shops in general here.
your in portland and you went too zumiez?
look up daddies boardshop and go there. they actually have a selection and gear is reasonably priced. you might look up the mountain shop becasue over all i feel that their board room has the best prices of any shop, mostly because you can get slightly used gear pretty cheap.

It depends...the zumiez in my mall is crap, its messy and everything. But this other zumiez i went to was clean and the workers helped me with parts to get.

Yeah, by me they suck. Not only are the sales people trained to say, "yeah that's sick, right?" Every time you touch anything. But, I was also kicked out for standing on one of their boards in the shop. Not riding it. Merely standing on it to feel the flex.
I've had the exact same experience when I have gone to a zumiez with the "yeah man that's totally sick brah!" Although, the employees by me are pretty chill and they let you stand on the boards. From the last time I've been there they have been a lot less uptight. Last time I went they wouldn't even let you stand on a board.
the only problem is that they only have sector 9 and arbor boards
plus they are only in completes
there are no parts other than s9 wheels
To them, there are no parts other than S9 wheels.

The boss at mine is a bitch, she's a smartass and treats you like a tard that knows nothing about skating. Luckily we got Industrial Rideshop right next to the Zumiez that actually has people that know what they're talking about.. Most of the times and also skate.

my local zumiez was carrying santa cruz and creation/satori longboards.
ultimately, ordering from mail order/online sucks cause you can't stand on the board and check out the goods. so i don't have problem with noobs getting their boards from them..
also, you could argue that they support your local economy...
but they compete against local skate shops (which many of them don't care about longboards..)
the one near me isn't too bad, they have bones swiss at least...
That's the only thing I ever bought at a Zumies ... and that was only once. We were at Mall of America in Minneapolis (or is it St Paul?) and I was miffed at how much money my wife was spending. I thought to myself, "I'll show her." and I went in to Zumies with the intent of blowing a ton of $$$. But all I could find that interested me was the bearings. I supposed I could have bought out their entire stock of bearings, but that would have been stoopit.

my trip to zumiez for speed cream was quite humorous. i got to stand in line for 10 minutes behind some stupid woman that couldnt accept the prices of she stuff she was buying while the stoned chick working the register was too high to make coherent sentences...except when i checked out and she goes "oh speed cream that's dirty" so i guess its not that bad i got my speed cream and i got a laugh or two.
Zumies is dope when you know the manager and said manager never turns on the alarms for theft... Other than that it's expensive and the employees are chill, but they aren't always the brightest bunch.
lol yea
that really pisses me off though cuz there is no other place to buy longboard stuff by me
even though there is online, i like to see the stuff for myself
