Really.. I love dogs.. just not when skating.

Oh.. and I have two dogs, both girls. One Boxer and a German Shepard and something else mix that is adopted. I really do love them even though they can be aggravating when they want to play and I want to skate.
You have to keep a short leash and keep them on your side and it's cool...

i used to skate all the time with my dog, a boxer. i would hold on to his leash and let him run, it was AWSOME . kinda like wakeboarding . until one day we were turning a corner and he saw a cat, he charged at it taking me with him ... never had a nastier fall since.

I longboard with my one Siberian Husky, he's pretty good with it.
Sprints the entire length of the road, though and then just drags the rest of the way because he tires out.

First off, rad sn, I'm assuming from Brand New.

And I don't know about your husky, but mine tiring out is a GOD send. She talks all night if she hasn't been exercised, and starts getting into everything. Good news is that she and my other dog play a lot so that gets most of her energy out when I have midterms and such.

I only take my dog late at night,so as to avoid confrontations with other dogs. He's an Akita and there a some dogs he just doesn't like, but when we cruise at night,he has a blast! I let him free roam and he's excellent off the leash when we ride.

I longboard with my dog at least once a day when weather permits, its great exercise for him and i can chill and smoke a cig on the "walk"

we go about two miles, total, on flat ground.
I bought him a nice padded harness for his chest, and a leash that has a bungee cord built into it and attached to a short leash, It works great, he gets running, i can pull on him slightly and accelerate and it makes him run faster. He listens well so i dont have to worry about other dogs or people and stopping is not an issue either as I had trained him for this for a few weeks a couple years ago.

He is a rottweiler, he loves to do work, by the time we are home, im pretty much dragging him back cause hes so tired, he LOVES that.

My two year old German Shepherd takes me on a pull down along a walkway following the creek that flows through our subdivision. It wears out other longboarders who come with me and push the whole way and I just have a chill ride in the woods along the paved walkway. She's definitely type A. We got her from a rescue group.

One of my worst wipeouts was trying a downhill with the dog. We now stick to chill hills and the path.

When she sees a squirrel and gets aggressive, I've taught her to focus forwards and pull harder. It channels her natural predatory energy into pulling energy. You just have to be able tack a bit when you're skating and channel her forward. She pulls like a mad dog when she sees critters.

My 10 year old husky is useless for pulling. She cannot even keep up with the shepherd pulling me and her pulling nothing. Likely her best pulling days are over.

I use a drop through board for stability and large wheels for going over debris on the pathway.

I use an extra long leather leash for stiffness and control.

You mentioned having both dogs at the same time? How did you pull that one off?

I don't let my dogs pull me, they both have Halti's so they don't pull that way they let me lead them, not vice versa. Worked for me, but I'm think of changing things up a bit.

Ha ha, I didn't pull that off very well. I've only tried it once and found out I'm not the Dog Whisperer. They were mismatched on age. I took the loop of the husky's leash and slid it down on the shepherd's leash figuring the husky has more good instincts for running a trail and might take the lead and make this work good. The husky was tired when we started and hung back and the shepherd dragged us both. So I got off the board and took the husky home...

They can switch mindsets. Harness for pulling. halti for walking beside you.

Hahah. It's because he tries to show what's up and run as fast as he can for a good 2 miles at times. Then just kinda jogs the rest of the way back. Probably part of it is because it's uphill. Haha.

But yeah, if I don't take him out he talks all day or picks on the other one. I love him to death

Me and my boy Tyson. My Doberman Lexi is more controlled while skating and stays with me without pulling or crossing my path. That dog can run/jog forever. Most of the dogs I foster and work with get a few good runs in to see if they like it.

I've been skating with my dog for awhile, and she loves it. She pulls me like hell for about 15 seconds and after that she just runs next to me. She's done one or two major powerslides when she goes one way and I go the other, but her paws were fine. Now I just let go of the leash when she darts off and then I catch up with her. What kind of harnesses do you guys use?

Ive got two small dogs ( each under 15 lbs ).
I don't take them boarding, I take my board when we go on walks.
One pretty well knows to always keep an eye on where the board is, and to never go in front, But the other ( the younger brother to the first dog ) Is kinda stupid, and doesnt get it. So he's actually tied to the first dog, who keeps him out of my way.

I really like bringing the board along for a few reasons.

With the board, we dont stop, ever! Dogs know it too.
    That means no potty breaks.

Also, they cant stop and bark.
If they bark, I speed up, and they quickly shut it so they can run.

And possibly the best reason is If I get going too fast going down a hill, I just need to shout "STOP" And the board starts slowing down.
9 out of 10 instances of speed wobble are caused by alien interference.

Im like Nyuklhed got the board because the dog was wearing me out
on walks . i had to have something to wear her down or shes a pest
at night endlessly stuffing toys at my legs.''

I do not run my dogs untill they are over 1 year of age i do not feel they are developed enough to work hard as puppys.

the dog i have now is a from the pound american bulldog.
she pulls a bit at first but settles in beside me after about 1/4 mile
she pulls hard every loop when we pass her "lil dog" this lil terrier races her from the other side of the fence she starts speeding up every time we get about 200 yards away.

working towards an unofficial AD title (12 miles in 2 hours)
we have slowly built up distances over the last 2 months. she just did her biggest run with me tonight 11 miles in 2 hours

the trick is to work em really hard then give em a day off
you judge how tired they are on the off day as to how much to give em next day.feed em smaller amount of kibbles 3 hours before the run and within 1 hour after is very important a big feeding.

trick them into drinking extra water by mixing a few kibbles to make bait water.

    .

tonight i did a huge carve holding the leash off my heelside then switched hands behind my back for the one off my toe side felt like water ski slalom .

do not try to run your dog this far without training em up to it you will kill them !
beware of the temperature outside it has a huge effect on how far your dog can go.
pay attention to your dogs breathing , temperature and foam on mouth
(cottonmouth for dogs ) if they foam they need water real soon
