Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
I've been meaning to ask this for awhile cause there does seem to be a lot of Dog owners/ lovers on this site. Anyone go out LBing with their Dog? My dog loves it. He starts to go nuts the minute he sees me take out one of my boards. He's still pretty young so he has a lot of energy. I got him a special harness so it doesn't strain his neck and I'll tell ya right out of my driveway we get going almost 20mph on flat terrain. After he wears out a bit, I help him push but you can tell he really enjoys it. He almost trots, ears back, like he is proud of the work he is doing. We have gone on a few mile treks. I always bring lots of water for him and we break often but he is a trooper. My wife loves it too, cause it wipes him out when we get home. He still has some of that Puppy energy even though he is 2 so wearing him out is key.
Anyway, anyone else go out with their pups. Probably one of my favorite LB disciplines, if you can call it that. I've gotten real good too, with carving behind him and leading him into turns.

I do the same thing with my puppy. She's about 9 months old now, and the thing she loves best is if i take the laser pointer out at night for a ride. She can go at full speed chasing that thing for at leat 3/4 of a mile!

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
Yeah, the other thing I didn't mention... if my pup sees a squirrel its like "surfs up" - he accelerates another 5-8 mph.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
i take my great dane out he loves it. its his evening walk when weather is good. we have been doing it since he was a pup he is almost 2 now.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
Wow, I bet with a great dane you get some mad speed. I am sure a Husky would be great at it too.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
my dogs love it, but if they see a squirrel or anything else, they immediately lose focus (as dogs often do) and go straight for a tree or grass or some immediate dangerous area.
if you smacked a kid in the face with a bottle of Johnson's No More Tears, would it create beautiful irony?

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
oh yeah, I take the dog at least 4-5 times a week. She can run a long way even though she is a little one (12lbs), if we get going too fast I pick her up and she gets a free ride. Disclaimer: be careful if you are thinking of doing this, it can be sketchy and you and your dog need to be working together to have a safe ride.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
I just have say: RUN! to my dog, and he will run like a mofo for 2 miles.. He's really disciplined so he won't get distracted, which feels safe..

Sure you gotta be careful. Generally if we start to get into trouble I just bail and he always comes back to lick my wounds. If he loses focus I just tighten up on the leash and we stay the course. It really is like its own discipline. I have gotten very good at maneuvering him over all sorts of terrain.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
We're still working on it. I have three dogs, one of them is a rather plump couch beagle that pulls like crazy when we walk. So, I think we'll go out and I'll bring the board so she can run along and give me a pull on the flats. We get to town, where it's flat, and as soon as the leash gets tight she stops. She'll pull me on my feet but not on the board, we have been talking about this all winter and will try again in the spring.
She had a great time just running with me though, so do the others but they will pull.

Helmets because most of us can't afford to lose any more up there...

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
x2 on the dog's rule.
I grew up a huge lover of animals and dogs in particular but unfort. I have been plagued with Animal Allergies my whole life. My wife and I rescued a Schnauzer/ poodle mix one day and while we were waiting for its owner to show up I realized I could be around them. Today we have 2 Schnoodles. Not the most manly of dogs but I cannot imagine 2 better friends. The one I longboard with only wants one thing and that is to be next to me. What more can you ask for really.

No, but it's mostly because my dog doesn't understand the concept of a straight line.

Re: Anyone Longboard w/ Their Dog?
I have a 10 month old doberman/lab and he goes nuts pulling the longboard. We have a trail for walkers just around the corner so we'll go tearing through there for a while. I like it because its something that actually wears his ass out
