Loaded Wheel Recall
Loaded Boards, Inc. Recalls Orangatang In Heat Wheels
Loaded Boards, Inc. of California is recalling all Purple (83a) Orangatang 75mm In Heat wheels purchased between 2/27/09 and 4/29/09 as well as all Orange (80a) Orangatang 75mm In Heat wheels purchased between 3/14/09 and 4/29/09.
Loaded Boards, Inc. has recently determined that a small percentage of the cores (produced by a third party vendor) used in these batches are not up to our rigorous quality control standards and may run the risk of shearing the bearing seat (blowing out the core and possibly causing the wheel to separate from the truck while in motion), creating a safety hazard to the user. This is a voluntary recall: Consumers should stop riding these wheels immediately and return the wheels (along with date of purchase so we can ascertain that it’s from this batch) to an authorized Loaded Boards/Orangatang dealer or to Loaded Boards, Inc. for a free replacement set. Loaded and all Dealers will gladly exchange the wheels for any wheel of choice, including the new Freeride wheels, provided the wheels are in stock or accessible.

Disappointing QC check+Good After-sales communication (but not that tremendous considering the risks!) =IMO hardly above-average services
This underlines how difficult it may be to ride two horses (or more) at the same time or to monitor decks and wheels quality!

Re: Loaded Wheel Recall
At least they're not waiting for lawsuits and news coverage which would not only hurt their business but would make people think that skateboards are even more dangerous leading to more anti-skateboarding legislation.

Re: Loaded Wheel Recall
News at 11, local child dies using common toy, does your child have one of these dangerous toys, stay tuned...
Anything can make the news, I watch most nights and some of the stuff on there is complete bullshit, and parents love to hear what is out to get their kids this week.
Now try and tell me a sue happy parent in this country isn't going to try and sue a manufacturer when their kid gets hurt because a properly installed wheel decides it doesn't want to be part of the skateboard anymore.

A. Fictional headline =/= Real headline
B. A sue happy parent in this country isn't going to try and sue a manufacturer when their kid gets hurt because a properly installed wheel decides it doesn't want to be part of the skateboard anymore

so true! a little anecdote for you all... I was watching the today show before class this morning and they had a "today show exclusive" about a pregnant woman running from a bear and then getting hit by a car. head line read something like this..."Pregnant woman hit by car while running from bear" Its laugh-worthy only because everything ended up fine.
on another note, i think im gonna try and score up some of those new free-rides since ive got the recalled wheels.

Re: Loaded Wheel Recall
Darnit I would love to try out the new otang freerides. Too bad I bought the 4prez instead of inheats Although everyone says the freerides are just broken in 4prez.

Re: Loaded Wheel Recall
anyone with cored inheats is pretty much getting free new wheels. if i had some i would take em out and shred em up then send em in
-
Re: Loaded Wheel Recall
I have a qustion about this.
Even if my wheels are not cored yet can I still get the free rides.
And do I have to send loaded my inheats? or can I send them my recite and then I get to keep my inheats?

I think as long as you can prove their from the 2/27-4/29 batch you're good.

Funny thing about the news on T.V., it's tainted to instill fear and keep you entertained.
Read blogs or online coverage. It's often more accurate and does not dwell on silly non-sense.
