Slalom St. Louis 2007--Come on down/up/over!
THE COURSES: As in previous years, they're gonna be "slalom," with courses varying from 40 to 100 cones. Push start only.
FRIDAY, MAY 25, we plan an afternoon/evening outlaw session at "Spot 2," a slightly steeper hill at the other end of the park. Single lane, no timer, just for fun.
SATURDAY, MAY 26, we plan a single-lane jam at "Spot 1," the same hill as previous years. Course will be a hybrid, with spacing anywhere from 6 feet to 20 feet, emphasizing speed and fun--makeable for newbies, challenging for experts to go fast on. Take as many runs as you want; fastest time wins.
SUNDAY, MAY 27, we plan a dual-lane 100-cone race at "Spot 3," a hill at the opposite end of the park. Cones will be set straight (no offsets) but will follow the natural curves of the road, which bends right, then left, then back right again. Cone spacing will vary from about 6 feet at the start to about 7 feet at the end. You WILL wiggle!!!
RACE LOCATION: Tower Grove Park in south St. Louis. Friday's fun session will be on a slightly steeper hill with a mild left-hand bend at the top. Saturday's single-lane hybrid will be on the same hill as in past years, an S-shaped street with a mellow slope but plenty of speed.
SURFACE: EXCELLENT asphalt, good runout at the bottom--little or no footbraking required. The streets are very slightly crowned and not particularly steep, but you won't be hurtin' for speed.

Re: Slalom St. Louis 2007--Come on down/up/over!
Marion is currently grounded for grades.
I'm negotiating with my sister for a periodic skate/release program over the summer so she can get up to speed.
Thanks to everyone who helped get her set up - she has incentive to get it together and is already making progress towards doing so.
I suspect over the next few years once she harnesses that potential, she is going rip a few doors right off.
Still working on the notion of a 'fish slalom bordercross party disguised as a race.
Plan for later in the summer when the dog days set in and the wild rivers are sweet relief.
Meanwhile, hoping St. Louis goes off well.
All the best,
Brian
Ooops, woke up laughing when I realized you meant MC not MM. I are slow some timez

I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world.. without you. A world without rules or controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible.

The beer factory tour is when? I might just put on a couple of more pounds and let gravity do the work for me! Is there a suggested hotel for this race?
-
Re: Slalom St. Louis 2007--Come on down/up/over!
You can tour the Anheuser-Busch brewery from 9-4, Monday thru Saturday. And yes, you do get free beer at the end of it.

FREE PLACE TO STAY!!!
I talked to Jeff "Chainsaw" McCullar this weekend, and he asked me to tell everyone that he has room for several more people at his house. He lives with a friend and has at least four couches and plenty of floor space.
So if money's tight, skip the chain hotels and consider a night or two at a "Hotel Chain(saw)." PM me for details, or call me at (314) 497-4366.
