Actually, I heard from a friend that there were really good hills possibly out there-north of Council Bluffs. Can you confirm this? I'm looking to check it out when I get back in country. I should be back by the end of the month, but I'll be gone first thing March till probably April again. It'd be cool to ride out there with someone who knows the area and some good spots for sessions. I've got some friends that are just getting into it, and I've been doing it now for about 6 months. Hit me up if you want to ride at all. I'm always down whenever I'm back home.

My friends have taken trips to Lake Okoboji, and they said it was a blast. I don't skate in Council Bluffs--it's flatter than Bellevue from what I've seen. I heard there was a few roads/highways on the way to Sioux City or Okoboji that were not really driven on much but had pretty good downgrades. I've been looking for anywhere around that has a ride that'll last longer than a minute or two. I'm going to check it out on Google maps when I get back to the states and hopefully find something. If we end up near Okoboji, I'll be sure to let you know if you're down to come meet up.

Just gotta jump in since I am a fellow Iowan. On the wrong side I suppose. Glad to see there is another one of us on the fish. If you are even in the east part of the state, hit me up, there are about 6 of us over here.

Re: Iowa
Hell-o Iowa! I agree it's good to see people from our great corn state repping the fish. I'm from near Waterloo, but I moved to Brooklyn NY over two years ago. I now skate for Earthwing NYC on the Slide team. I'll be back in the state this summer when the temp and precip. normalize.
Maybe we can set up something sick psycho at a state park in the summer or late spring.

That would be cool. I am down for all types of skating. Bombing, sliding, carving, board walking, transition,... you name it.

Re: Iowa
Have any of you been to Ledges State park? It's between Ames and Boone (central IA). It has some SWEET dh at the beginning of the park, long steep and curvy. I've been meaning to get over there for some time now (and now that it's nice...).

Re: Iowa
Is it awesome enough for a 3 hour drive? I'd be down to make the trip--possibly with a friend or two--if the park is really awesome. I'm dying over here, hitting up the same fast-but-super-short runs and drifting bike paths. I need some really good downhill.

Re: Iowa
hey guys, I went to college in Ames and visited Ledges tons of times. Jwmcw is right there is nice cuves and not to mention it is beautiful there. ( Of course you guys might take this a little for granted, I haven't been out of Brooklyn for over a year. )
I'm going to be back in Iowa the weekend of the 14th in June for my 10yr reunion. I'm from the Waterloo area so I'll probably do the runs at Hickory Hills Park in Tama county and rip it down through traffic in Cedar Falls. I'm totally used to New York traffic so I'm super stoked to skate some Iowanee traffic scene.

Ill actually be out of the state about that date. Army training all through June. I'm gonna hit ledges state park soon though, before I leave. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I know that there is some water at the bottom....
I finally got the guts to bomb a sweet hill in Ames, it's called "Hyland Ave", just off campus. 30+mph, im guessing of course, but fast nonetheless.
Cheers Iowan-boarders,
