Re: St. Louis Garages
So I realize Johnathan is still healing up from his close encounter with
the pavement, but Ben, or Goad any chance of another Sat night garage
session downtown coming up?

Cool, Bean-A-Reano what do you think, can we get a session
in between now and the Tower Grove event? How about Brandon
or Grant?

Re: St. Louis Garages
Hey, I am going to be coming into town for the Tower Grove event. Anyone up for a garage session that Saturday night? All the garages here on Mizzou's campus suck! Too much flat. I HAVE been hitting the skatepark a lot and am digging it, but nothing can replace a good garage session IMO.
Edit: Just checked, no Cards home game that night which should make for a nice empty garage to carve deep and hard in!

Ben,
They have a slalom race Friday - Sunday in Tower Grove park in STL on Memorial Day weekend. I haven't been, but from what I have heard from the STL guys, people come from all over the country so it should be rad. Bean-a-reano should have all the 411 you need.
Hopefully you can make it up from the Cape on one of the days. Hot Wheels & I went out to Babler that Saturday you were up, but by the time we got there, you were gone. You missed one of Bean-a-reano's friends trying to bomb a hill on my Vanguard and getting some serious road rash! Hot Wheels told him the trucks were too loose! In the end, he was able to walk away in one piece, my Vanguard stayed in one piece, so it turned out okay.

Re: St. Louis Garages
Hmph.
Well, I won't be able to make it up there Memorial Day weekend. I've got an annual family event I've gotta go to (every Memorial Day weekend).

Re: St. Louis Garages
Sorry, I haven't posted in here. Been away for the weekend. Sounds like a slalom session might happen on the 18th. Things are tentative for the moment. There are rumors of a garage session the night of the race.....

Re: St. Louis Garages
Event Date and Time: Saturday, May 24, 2008 10:00
Event Duration: Two days
Location: Tower Grove Park, St. Louis, MO
Entry: Open
Helmets: Mandatory
Divisions: A
B
Classes: Friday: Outlaw jam session (no timer)
Saturday: Single-lane loose hybrid
Sunday: 66-cone dual "TS" (6 feet 6 inches between cones)
Organizer: St. Louis Daggers
Map: Click here for online map
Entry Fee: $20.00
Contest Info: THE COURSES: As in previous years, they're gonna be "slalom." Not too tight, not too wide open, just slalom. Mellow S-turn hill, decent asphalt, push start only. Trackmate timer.
FRIDAY, MAY 23, we plan an afternoon/evening outlaw session at "Spot 2," a slightly steeper hill near the east end of the park. Single lane, no timer, just for fun. Show up around 5:00 and we'll ride until we get tired or (hopefully not) kicked out.
After Friday's jam session, anyone who's hungry can join us at O'Connell's Pub (excellent burgers and fish 'n' chips) or Tin Can Tavern (home cookin' and a variety of beers in--you got it--cans only). And if anyone's still interested, we can hook up a downtown parking garage session. Elevator up, ride down, in two or three bust-free garages.
SATURDAY, MAY 24, we plan a single-lane jam at "Spot 1," the same hill as previous years. Course will be a hybrid, with spacing anywhere from 6 feet to 20 feet, emphasizing speed and fun--makeable for newbies, challenging for experts to go fast on. Take as many runs as you want; fastest time wins. Show up around 10:00 a.m., and we'll start actual racing around 11:00 or so. We'll race for as long as people want to ride, after which...
BBQ!!! Free food, free soda, bring your own "other beverage of choice." We have reserved the Turkish Pavilion at the top of the course all day Saturday (and Sunday too this year). Chill out, relax and enjoy some food and drink until park closing time (around 10:00 p.m.)
SUNDAY, MAY 25, we plan a dual-lane race. Cones will be set straight (no offsets) but will follow the natural curves of the road, which bends right, then left. In honor of our sixth year doing this crazy race, cone spacing will be 6 feet 6 inches. Bring your small-to-medium board if you've got one. You WILL wiggle!!!
TROPHIES: Once again, Paul Graf has come up with some unique trophies for the top finishers. 100% hand made and 100% unique.
RACE LOCATION: Tower Grove Park in south St. Louis. See map link above for directions and locations.
SURFACE: Good asphalt, good runout at the bottom--little or no footbraking required. The streets are very slightly crowned and not particularly steep, but you won't be hurtin' for speed.

Re: St. Louis Garages
St. Louis skaters, JBH or bean-a-reno, any idea when the next garage
session is going down? I am looking forward to it.
-
Re: St. Louis Garages
I gotz no garage plans at the moment. But I have heard rumblings about a session Saturday (noonish) at the "undisclosed location" where I broke my collarbone. Ben, where you at?

Me or Buckles?
I can't go, I'll be canoing/camping on Current River, but I'm definitely up for skating any other time.

Both, now that I think of it. Although to avoid confusion, I think we may have to start calling you "bracket" or something like that...
