    Default Omaha and surrounding areas

So when the weather gets nice, we need to get all of us longboarders together to show your stuff. I know of several places around Omaha. I would love to know about some more though.

If you live in the rural parts of Nebraska and have an insane hill I would love to try it.

pm me and we can figure it out.

I've got about a little over a month left here. I've got some crazy setups, and I'm willing to let people try them out. Hit me up.

I'm in Bellevue. I drive all over, though, for different spots. The only good thing to skate over here in Bellevue is Fontenelle Forest, but it's kinda gnar with the rough pavement and traffic. The hills are really steep but don't have runoffs--lots of sliding and drifting mandatory.
The chillest place I usually go to is in Papillion near the high school. There's a spot in between a golf course and park/pond that has a decently steep street and a windy bikepath on the side.
Abe (xaberman) is at UNO, and the campus is pretty fun to skate. Jordan (OmahaRider) lives pretty much across the street. I met his buddy John, and he's a ripper. Last time we skated at a couple spots, the best being waaay out...I forget specifically where actually. Cool neighborhood by a big 24 hour fitness-type place.
I have a couple friends who longboard, too. One of them, John, is just starting out, but he's having fun with it. Hopefully, my buddy JR can make a sesh sometime, but he works nights. My other buddy Scott just got deployed, though, so that sucks.
Like I said before, I'm supposed to leave in a couple weeks. I really wish I could have hooked up with everyone long time ago. I'm stoked to see that it's growing in the area, though. I've been bugging all the skate shops around to carry longboard stuff since June '07, and they've broadened their selection a whole bunch.
It helps, too, that one of the guys who works at BC Boards at Westroads and Oakview Malls longboards too. If you're ever at those stores, ask for Nate. He's a really cool guy. We'll definitely hit em up next sesh.
I really hope an actual scene can develop in the Omaha area. Even though I'll be overseas, if there's anything I can do to help, just let me know. I'll do what I can before I leave, too.
Although everything's pretty spread far out, we DO have good stuff around to do all kinds of skating. Whether it's cruising/carving, sliding, slalom, downhill/speed, pool/park, or street, we've got stuff in and out of the city to satisfy our craving. It just takes some stoke and some patience.

Thanks for showing me such a sick place right before I left, Jordan. Next time I'm in the country, we'll hit it up when there's less traffic.

Yo fellas jus sayin hi. Just got into this longboardin stuff and slowly learning. Been trying to find some nice long runs around town but haven't had much luck. Seems like the longest are about a block or two. If anyone could point me to some specific spots that would be sweet. I'm in the dundee area but don't mind driving to something if its worth it. And if anyone ever wants to show me some stuff i'd love any advice!

Took me a really long time to get my stuff but I finally got it all. So if anyone wants to skate that'd be cool.

I don't really know of any "good" places to skate. Thats kind of everywhere considering what information you have supplied, but I need to people to skate with. We should totally meet up and skate the streets.

Hey guys i've found some places around town. Got a few runs way north. some around 160th out west, and some in midtown. Also know of a parking garage downtown w a broken door so its never locked. 8 stories w an elevator is nice on rainy days. PM me and we should all hit up a place sometime, the runs aren't that long i think the longest is about 4min to get down, but we have 4 ppl usually and just rotate driving to the bottom and back up. Seems lazy but you can go down 3x as much if someone drives and saves time walking up.

Most of Fontenelle Hills in Bellevue off of Bellevue Blvd is pretty gnarly--really steep and fast but kind of short runs.
Really fun if you like to slide and drft through turns (i do ) There's a great run near the Fontenelle golf course. Enter in by the apartments going towards the club house--take the road left next to the parking lot and keep going--it looks like it ends, but it actually goes in between two houses and keeps going straight up and around and back and up and back...you get my drift---REALLLY FUN, REALLY STEEP, and relatively no traffic except the people that live in those houses.
Papillion has great cruising stuff. There's a neighborhood near 84th and Continental (?) that has a great bike path to drift around and a pretty fast quick bomb-able road right next to it.
I'm in Okinawa, but whenever I come back to visit, I'll definitely post up in here.

Well my buddy just moved away so i got no longboarding pals anymore. I'm down for whatever kinda runs. I can do basic slides well enough to not feel like i'ma die on steep stuff so i'm game for anything.
