New Guy from the Philippines

Hi guys! I don't know If I can post an introduction here so forgive me if this is a mistake. So my name is Patrick and I'm from the Philippines. I'm new to longboarding but not totally new to the whole skateboarding thing. I know some basic skateboard stuff like riding it and just doing an ollie but i think i'm gonna find more thrill with longboards. anyways, my parents just got me my first longboard while they're in the usa. They'll be back on the 9th so i can't wait for them to come home. They got me the Ladera Respect Roots. As a new guy to longboarding, is this any good? I wanna learn alot from you guys and hopefully you guys can help me get better at longboarding. And ofcourse, I wanna make friends with you guys, especially my fellow filipinos!!!

The respect roots is a good board and it will give you your first taste of longboard love. It's a good start off point from which you can learn all the basics. As you begin to progress in the sport, you will learn the different disciplines from Freestyle/Dancing, Downhilling, and Sliding. It's important that you pick up some skills in all these disciplines, but at one point you'll know which aspect you like best. When that happens, you're gonna want to buy a new board that best suits your style of choice.

Personally, I love downhill most and that's where I get my dose of stoke. But otherwise, I enjoy everything else. Read up on stuff here at the fish and learn all there is to know. And if you're looking for a skate crew near your area, I suggest you contact Kurdt (just search him here in silverfish). He's from alabang as well. You are also welcome to join us for skate sessions in makati or in subic on the weekends.

your gona love the respect roots! ive tried one and its a very capable board!
also, there are a number of riders of the south (its a growing population)

theres gona be little push race on nov 7 in ayala alabang so please try to join it!

-my parents will be getting back on the 10th so i wont be able to join that race on the 7th. i would have really loved to join it though.
