Hi there! Does anyone in the PI have a bamboo deck? Better yet, anyone with a bamboo deck for sale? I need to source one for a little experiment. Thanks guys!
how big is the longboard scene in manila. we opened up an online shop in new zealand and are hoping to branch out back home so i can enjoy family and the weather. also, how much is a complete setup there? look forward to skating with some of you guys.
i would say that the longboard scene is still relatively small here but it is picking up with more people getting into it, but chances are not everyone knows what a longboard is
completes range from 7k to 9k pesos

I might need some local "testers" (AKA guinea pigs) on a board we're developing. It's still in the works but I need to know what my options are and if there are any takers. Anyone interested PM me.

7-9k is pretty good. what setup would that be? we sell our compete loaded boards for around 12k pesos in new zeland more or less. does that sound good?
where abouts do you skate? do you mind hooking up if we go home? my sister and her friends are building boards in davao. i can give you their contact details if you want.

sweet. im from alabang too. 125 mango drive. my mom and cousins are still there. perhaps you know some of them. setup would be randal 180s, abec 5 bearings and a choice of wheels (zigzags, gumballa, etc). considering they sell in the states for 300usd (15k pesos), i think 12k is pretty good ey?
la vista is pretty cool. i remember that place as a kid. there is one steep mother hill there.
how are those ladera boards? i hear that its freddy G that brings in the S9s.
who do you skate with? i know quite a few people in alabang?

alabang also? sweet! lots of nice local spots, but the road is definitely a foot massage! well the setup is nice.. if you can lower the price a bit then you might have a competitive price
the ladera boards are awesome solid construction and good setups.. is freddy g part of the J&S surf shop?
i skate with whoever i can skate with some friends a little.. more people in alabang that skate? cool i've never seen more skaters here

cool. im not sure what freddy's business name is but he started off bringing in havayanas. then he brought in NSP surfboards and i think sector 9 boards. im not sure who his partners are but i hear he's doing pretty well.
ya, alabang has lousy roads. our best bet would be to go to the "housing" area. not sure if they still use that term for that area with red roofs and asphalt roads close to that gate by town center.
i'm really interested in brancing out the shop to the philippines. do you think there is a market there? i checked out youtube and found many videos in la vista and cebu. i hear the sierra madres is real good.
alabang skaters? check out yannik tuason in santol drive. he should have a fibreflex pintail that i sold to his bro. hes my cousin and he should have other friends who skate. hes around your age.

the housing area is definitely a ncie place to skate, problem is its a busy area, i still have to make a trip to the nearby mountains, really hard to scout far-away places
i think youd have to seperate your product from s9, cause most retailers only sell s9 boards.. if you sell a different product other than s9 then you might get a chunk out of the market
yannick tuason?? hhahha laughtrip i know that dude! small ass world, i tried his hobo board, didnt really like it, so they got a fibreflex, that oughta be kick ass

so i take it you studied in zobel or southridge? yannick can be a dick sometimes so bring him down a fast hill to scare him a bit. hes a really good athlete so im sure hell be a good longboarder, soon enough.
so if i go home this year, we should hook up and check out sierra madres even dasma and forbes. at night would be best and we'll have a driver follow us around. the luxury of manila life
save my home number in alabang. 8426671 - nacho
i just live across a block from yannick. just a stone throw away.
Yannick doesnt skate as much e, probably try to make another session with him (with a hobo board, even i wont skate often)
i hear that there are some skaters in forbes, dunno about dasma.. a sirerra madres trip should be hella planned.. you been to punta fuego? ive been eyeing that place and looks great for skating
interesting site, you guys ship here? a dervish looks interesting

Punta Fuego is cool... its concrete, smoother than Ayala Alabang... the thing that sucks about the place is the humps are made of this really shitty asphalt mix with sharp jagged stones... and there are rain gutters that span the road as well... they sure take the stoke out of a good run... As for Forbes, there are some ok runs... there's this "bowl" like spot... great for people starting out, just to get used to going down... Dasma's pretty much flat all throughout, save some gentle to moderate inclines here and there... both have nicely paved roads. Anyone want to skate in this neck of the woods, send me an SMS.
Alabang Hills has got nice slopes and its asphalt... you guys should have a look there... I studied in Southridge and know the area somewhat... would Yannick be the younger brother of Semil/Andreas? Nacho, you're a Tuason? Paolo Tuason is my bro's business partner for Nike. And Fred Gonzalezs (my cousin-in-law) does bring in S9 along with other surf products and Havaianas. He's opening a surf shop in Rockwell called Aloha Board Sports where he'll sell all his products. Anyway, yes the Philippines is small and you can always connect the dots...
Nacho I'd be stoked to give the loaded boards (or any of your other boards for that matter) a go... lately, with the Ladera Hiro that I got, i've been a fan of flex... and the loaded's appear to ride nicely and look sweet too... hmmm as for the 12,000 pricetag, (thats $300 with the new exchange rate), I can understand how that would turn some new people away, when there are the S9 and Ladera 7K-9K options... but for sure, once they experience the stoke of riding a longboard, they would want to feed their quiver with a loaded deck... give me a text when you do decide to sell the stuff here... 09178117233... Cheers... -Raphael
