I was just in HK a few days ago. Gnarly roads, but gnarly drivers as well.

My dad lives in Hong Kong and I have been going atleast once a year for the past 6-7 years or so. Definately some great riding to be had. Let me let you in on a little secret spot of mine with almost ZERO traffic on Hong Kong Island.

WARNING: This is not a begginer hill and should not be attempted by anyone that is not proficient with speed control or unable to stop quickly. The hill sometimes hits steeps close to 20% grade. You will also be out in the middle of nowhere so make sure you bring water and don't ride a lone unless necessary.

Take a taxi to Hong Kong Parkview, 88 Tai Tam Reservoir Road. Taking a cab from Wan Chai Train Station will probably be the cheapest. Tell the cabi to drop you off at the hotel. Ride out the way you came and then make a right at the entrance rather than a left, which is the way you came. Ride under/around the turnpike and you will be starting the hill. I've attached a google earth image of the hill. I can't stress enough about how this is not a beginner hill. When you get to the bottom you will be somewhat close to stanley plaza but closer to Pacific view and the Manhattan Apartments. Bus numbers 6,36 and 66 will take you back to central/admiralty.

Please be on your best behavior while riding so as to not spoil this run for others. Be careful of speed humps, phillipinas walking their sponsor's children/dogs, and park rangers flying up in their trucks.

    You are welcome

sup guys, I used to do some curving, sliding stuff back in Tucson but recently moved to Hong Kong so I have not touched my board since then, yeah been almost a year now!
I really missed cruising with my Loaded with Abec11 gumball wheels. I been trying to form a group to kick this town but no luck but finally I found out about this site.
What kinda board do you guys prefer in hong kong? I like something to cruise around crowded city, sliding and curving.
    Take care

Oh and I am pretty sure there is a golf path size trail up Mt. Parker. I will check it out when I am back later this summer.

Anybody ridden up by the Tai Tam Resevoir?

Hey! I'm going to be in Hong Kong most of this summer and am dying to check out the hills there with my longboard! Are there any specific places or roads you guys like skating?

I'm mostly just looking for spots to chill out and carve up, not necessarily high speed. Any hills with smooth pavement, few cars? Maybe recommended routes to get there? (Subway stops, minibuses, addresses to give to taxi drivers?)

Haha, I guess I'm asking for a lot; if nothing else, I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun hunting for those spots myself =P.

Another question for the group - I'm gonna be in Hong Kong at the end of the summer as well. Not sure where, my gf planned all this out as a surprise (she knows the area, lived there for 12 years or so). My question is, is skating legal in urban areas in HK? She's gonna be working a lot while we're there, so I'll probably have time to cruise the city by myself. I'd like to bring a mini for getting around the city. But is it legal? Or even worth it to try and skate through the crowds?

bump in case anyone knows more spots. tai tam reservoir looks fun to just carve down, yes/no? i read some good things about red hill peninsula on some guy's rollerblade site. any more spots, maybe in kowloon?

@dcyuen, the mini everyone seems to love on silverfish is the Legendary Gnome. in my opinion, though, most minis are pretty similar. i've got a sector 9 bambino that's a lot of fun.
