Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
As I commented on the page, I bet this will bring a lot of noobs joy to finally be able to post in the cored wheel thread. On a more serious note the 80a ones would be super buttery and fun for about 2 hours...

Meh... Hope Otang worked on their urethane formula, then we're talking.
Never been a big fan of Otang thane after trying other wheels.
RainSkates or Abec 11 (classic) thane makes for fun freeride wheels.

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
Slightly smaller otang flys?
I'd rather skate these than durians though. But I'd rather skate classic thane flys than either.

Keepin' it real... so you don't have to.

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
If they have 80a and 86a, they are bound to have 83a. Maybe even the new Red 89a..

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
Should probably wait for Otang to say something about them first....
Going off the FB page all the reviews from people who have ACTUALLY ridden them are positive.

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
they're pretty dope, believe it or not otang actually sends these to people who ride well and give feedback to see if the product is worthwhile or not.

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
Apparently centerset?
I'm relatively sure that the huge cores will make their slides actually fairly nice (ie like zombies and snowballs) as long as their thane is tweaked a bit from the durian thane. It needs to be chalkier is the best way i can say it. Huge core, though, means a quick kill.
I like the way companies like Nersh have found a happy medium. The core is slightly larger than most others but still has plenty of thane around it for long life. Plus, they actually try to make their thane more durable.

Re: New Orangatang Balut Wheels
Disclaimer: I've never done any serious riding on Flywheels before. I've bombed some hills on a buddy's setup that had some big flys on it, but I haven't ever owned a set and put them through some abuse.
When you compare the specs/looks and whatnot, these do look a lot like Flys for sure. That said, Flys cost in excess of 50 bucks (I think the 76mm's rack in at like $52-$53 depending where you get them, that's just from memory), so the price would probably be comparable. I'm not gonna go rambling through spec similarities and shit, but bottom line, these wheels are dope. I spent a good amount of time on some 80a's, and they were super rad. The big core feels SICK, smaller thane depth makes slides feel super clean and keeps the wheels hella fast. Definitely some of the raddest wheels I've ridden.
Edit: also, at InfinitysLimits, I'm not really sure what you're talking about, because unless you're referring to Money Hax, which I highly doubt you are, Candies and Smoothies use the powerball core which is just as big as the plastic shows on the outside. I want to say it's around like 35mm or something? Hell of a lot smaller than anybody else's, aside from the cores you see on Biothanes or the like that are literally a hub for the bearing seat and that's it.
