    Default Graphics Contest Entry Thread!!!!!

    Here it is!
    This is it!
Post your entries for the Graphic Contest here.
If it's not posted on this thread it ain't in the contest.
Just one entry per person and all entries must be recent works that are actually applied to a skateboard/longboard.

This is all for the fun of it. No promise of prizes or anything are made or should be expected. You get the pride that you did a good job and the right to rub it in everyone's faces (within reason) in other words bragging rights.

So you guys have a week to get them up. The poll thread will be made sometime late Memorial Day. That's like a week from monday, whatever date that is. Once the poll is up no more entries can or will be taken. Everybody votes. Most votes wins.

AND ALL YOU GUYS ENTERING SHOULD SEND YOUR WORK TO POWELL SKATEBOARDS. THEY HAD AN ADD OUT LOOKING FOR ARTISTS. SAW IT IN CONCRETE WAVE, IT HAS TO BE TRUE.

Good luck to all. I may even have an entry if I can get my computer and camera back on speaking terms by the end of the week. If not...oh well.

    So Post those entries!

Here is an entry by pithaya as PMed to me.

    Heres my entry

Well, after quite some work, here is my entry:

Heres the larger version if you cant see the tiki clearly
    http://static.flickr.com/52/149128672_2975292ed1_b.jpg

This was originally the deck that came with my Carver CX complete. I wanted to sand it down to the wood and seal it with resin and spray a couple of stencils I made with black paint. I kinda had to play it by ear cause I didn’t have experience doing this. The guys from the auto body shop near my house were kind enough to help me with their power tools (sander) So I sanded it down and cleaned with gas to remove the griptape adhesive residue and eliminate the original graphic. I also squared down the tail a little. I found that the graphic was green ink with maskings that showed the wood so the lines in the tiki graphic were burnt into the wood so even without the ink and after sanding, the lines of the graphic remained on a wood background it looks cool so I left it.

These are the stencils I was gonna use, i'll leave them for later, the slogan is because G-d and the virgin always appear on hills like the "ceroo tepeyac" in Mexico where Virgin Mary of Guadalupe appeared

So then I proceeded to epoxy the bottom of the board which I did, but I noticed that some newspaper that I had spread out stuck to some epoxy residue on the top, so then I decided to inlay newspaper throughout the top. I applied the epoxy, laid the newspaper then after it dried I made another light coat were I sprinkled beach sand as it dried for grip.

The result was this thing, I added a few words cutout to complement the theme, these include, music, central, anguish, win and the most important place is reserved for Peace/Paz.

I also polished the CX trucks and theres a Soulgrind sticker under the front truck.[/img]

Spray paint and masking tape. My fingers were cut to shreds from stanley blades

For the uninformed VB is an Australian beer. Gave the deck to a little mate of mine who looks like a leprechaun

Awesome skinny!!! I was hoping that the S&B deck was the one you'd post up!
It's great to see a large colaborative effort like that come together into such an amazing finished product. I also look forward to riding one of your NLC cores soon, and getting to experience a NLC+Skinny masterpiece under my feet.
That is a really detailed screen, amazing work as always!!!

thanks skinny. there used to be a print major at my school who used linolium for his screen frames so that he could print decks. i think it worked out well, but ive never seen anything of his.

here's one of the last handpainted boards by my partner Hollis Laird. It was a present for a girl which is where the tt comes in. It apparently means tag-teamed. don't ask. but she's a hardcore skier and it has somewhat of a cartooney look. I know it won't win, particularly because i have seen the group effort board in person, and the attention to detail is absolutley amazing. you can even see the bloodshot eyes of the mad scientist.

    anyways here's my entry

thanks skinny. I dug up some interesting stuff i've done over the past year. aka all the f-ups and stuff that i can show you this weekend. I'm going out of town on saturday and i'll be back sunday night. Monday ok? and is it ok if i bring hollis?

I know that the next boards that i've been thinking up will be a lot different. not necesarily the shape but the overall building materials. i called joel and he's going to get back to me tomorrow so it looks like i might be able to have an order by this weekend like you wanted

well this isnt THAT recent, i painted most of it in December for an art project, and i honestly never finished it. I'd still like to do a few minor touch-ups but that probably wont happen because im always riding it.

    Default So...

So, does this mean that I can enter any board graphic I've ever done?

I thought the idea was to drive new design by creating art within
a given time period of 1 month.

Did I miss a post where the rules changed?

I mean, I'm busting ass to finish mine and I can already tell
that I like some of my previous boards better.

    whatever
