Board press?
So there is a guy selling a 2 inch drop deck board press template for like 175 down the road from me. Pretty much the huge block of wood you would sandwich your soon to be board in between.
I've never built a board before. Good investment or am i just wasting my &^$*%#$ time?

Re: Board press?
if its just a block of wood, then i would say he is royally ripping you off. If you really wanted one, you could just make one similar for about $20. Now if the mold he has included like a hydraulic press, then i would say go for it, otherwise i wouldnt take that deal.
FOR SALE: sector 9 race 38" 08 flex 2 dervish, 08 hellcat, dh36, EW supercharger, FSM, two one set 852 bears, 155mm seismic trucks, hybrid 215's, 85mm speedvents, retro lime freerides, pink zigs, EW smokers.

Re: Board press?
Wait is he actually selling youi the press or just the "template" or the plans for the press...
Just build your own, it actually isn't that hard, check out the "Dimm press instructional video". Looks surprisingly easy, cheap, and really effective.
I say don't do it. Build your own first press.

Re: Board press?
If this is a 2 sided wooden "mold" to press boards between, then the price is not out of line. I saw somewhere a company that will make these for you for $439.00 + freight, they are CNC created.
It would be important to check and see if the mold is straight and not warped, no cracks or stress flaws on it. It needs to have a reasonably smooth surface as well.
Also important is that you need to figure out how you are going to use it, what type of press you would need to build to be able to press the mold halves together.
Does he have a sample of the profile of the board that comes out of this mold ?
Some people do sell molds that don't work, that were not cut correctly and the result is a board that is worthless.
If the mold is off, the board / trucks and wheels may not sit flat on the ground.

Re: Board press?
All the fun is in building your own press, whether it is a one sided, two sided, ghetto, clamped, weighted, vacuumed, foam or wood .....it's what it is about....You will make couple of mistakes but in the end you will get the board you want.

Agreed! If you want to buy someone elses shape for the press, you will probably prefer to buy a board rather than build your own.
Building... its an attitude
