    Default Clear Coat Peeling Off

A while ago I finished a mini with Minwax Polycrylic and mounted some trucks with soft risers on it. I left them on there for a while and recently took them off because I needed the hardware for a new board coming in. I had trouble getting the risers off and had to pry them off with a screwdriver, and when I got them off some of the clear coat came off along with it.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm not sure if I misunderstood something about the finishing process or skipped a step or something.

I've never had this issue with another board that I finished with Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. The problem with that stuff, though, is that it added a yellowish tint to the wood. Any recommendations on a clear finish?

In this case there's two main reasons why the finish on your board lifted like that. One of the reasons is since the particular material you're working with is so thick it requires not only time to dry to the touch but sometimes a few days to cure (harden), so if the trucks were mounted prematurely the finish cured with trucks on and caused the risers to adhere to the soft finish on the deck.
The other reason is that the surface wasn't prepared for a application of the finish. Most times it's a good practice to scuff (sand lightly) the board to make scratches for the finish to stick to.
And lastly, I have had good experiences with lacquer clear coat from a spray can for finishing the boards I build. It has no yellowish tint.

I did go over the paint very lightly (maybe too lightly) with some high grit sand paper, but I remember allowing the finish only a day to dry, so that was probably the cause of my issue. Thank you for the help.
