...actually i really shouldn't joke about that. one of the shapers that is high on my list of heroes suffers from dementia probably due to working in unsafe conditions (ie: inappropriate ventilation and not using a mask)

i should be wearing a mask too but then i couldn't chew tobacco. heheheh

Default you can lead the horse to water....

Yup. VOC's and dust catch more folks than will admit it.

Doesn't seem to matter how much you point it out either.

Don't chew tobacco myself, I just won't shave my beard so a mask is only so effective and no dust collection system on the market gets it all.

Best you can do is survive the damage and get better habits.

We used to shape decks in a carport when we first started out. I remember Xmastime the first year of production, I was out there sandin' away and it was so cold out my breath vapor froze to the inside of my mask. Didn't realize it until I went to take it off and the little "soul patch" under my lower lip was frozen to the mask!

    *****, that hurt!

    Default beard sweeper

been sporting the flava-sava meself these days also takin' it on the chin a bit so hafta be careful 'bout puttin' it into any cold dark crevice or run risk of having it all snached away in one fell swoop.

man... i'm getting all wheezie just reading those posts. whenever we layout a batch cnova said he noticed a little headache the next day. but i would think it's more due to the burning grass and bubbling brew than outright fumigation. not to mention having to listen to my babbling whilst changing ideas in midstream would definitely give the most even tempered person a bit of the fuzzies the following day.

gotta start another build tonight 'cause i'm just thinking too clearly.

    Default Domestic bliss

    Enjoy.

In the middle of a run of 34" - 40" maple and maple over birch at the moment.

Diss is the 36" double kick which is pressing beautifully at the moment.

Just straight wood, PVA and epoxy for this run of blanks being stocked to go out to the CNC shop.

Good thing as the mold studio is attached to the house.

To many strange fumes tends to put the bride off leading to unpleasant side effects of a different sort.

Plus the nasties keep you from truly tasting the better things in life.

Now if that Steeenking artist would finish filling out the copyright forms so the logo graphics can be laid down on the finished run -Yes, I know you're out there reading this......

that's just how he anoints the board with his blessing. said it gives it that special glow.

nice shape on that deck there brian. my wife takes meds to prevent seizures while others do things to attain that certain vision.

hey now mikey, was wondering when you'd suss that one out. have to concur with you there, not bad for the raw product. all that needs to be done is to pull a shape out of the wood. you can almost hear it calling.

was working in the shop last night when i got a slight case of the wobbles...

...there was this point when it came down to either one more bier or a room full of fumes. we opted to celebrate the yeast's productivity instead. took my time cutting material and thinking about the composition. you can't hurry the process that sometimes becomes a rush.

    Default good vibrations

sorry to here about your wife Al, not fun having to watch a loved one that deals with that.

on a happier note, glad you opted for the barley by-products as opposed to chemistry of the inorganic persuasion.

can only take partial credit for that mold. the generals were requested by a customer and we hashed out the specifics.

the blank dimensions are 11 1/2" X 38" with 22 3/4" of truck flats that can yield a 17 1/4" inside bolt hole truck spacing.

it features good concave and a gentle transition to a constant radius-ed kick (as opposed to flat).

the customer just got a batch of boards out of the mold and was thinking that the tail could turn up another 1/4" but you know what? I'm good with it right where its at.

just confirmed the deal for the trucks and wheels to equip 75 boards to complete status yesterday.

setting up money has been one of the harder issues (isn't always?).

in the process of nailing down another 150 sets of gear for the other offerings.

targeting release of the first sets of boards 4 weeks from next monday.

    keeping my fingers crossed.

Al you still mixing bacteria in with water and makin' sweet drinking stuff...yum yum. I still remember nicking a wodge of "new improved" yeast from Banks brewery by sticking my finger in a beaker on a lab bench during a guided tour and walking home very carefully with my finger in the air and avoiding all the homeboys thinking i was being cheeky arf arf.
