    Default can fiberglass stiffen?

I am making a drop speed board that needs to be stiff.

Like an idiot, I bought 1/2inch birch and of course it wont be stiff enough.

I have plenty of access to fiberglass and I was wondering if 3 or 4 layers of glass on the bottom would stiffin it up enough or at all?

    anyone done anything simular?

Yeah it would stiffen it. So would carbon fibre and many other options. Slap 2 layers on top & bottom & overlap the sides a little. It'll be stiff & sexy.

i wonder if that would be quite enough for a speedboard only .5" thick. i'd worry about the dropped trucks breaking out without reinforcement.

    who knows-worth a try

well it worked. ended up putting 3 full layers and 2 strips down the middle on the bottm, and 2 full layers on top. definatelly stiff enough now, I will let you know how the drop through mountings hold up once I get around to doing that.
