Breathless... Really, all these boards are gorgeous, absolutely stunning! I must say I love the Skanker the most, just that pattern and its cruising capabilities!

OK, here's my entry. This is more like an experiment build for me so I didn't put any effort into the graphics.

Length: 38"
Width: 9.5"
Concave: 0.25"


On this board, I experimented with acrylite acrylic sheet (you can find this material in Home Depot) as the board's core. The acrylic core is sandwiched by 1x1/16" maple veneer on top and 2x1/16"maple on bottom. The result is very light board. The board+wheels(65mm fat free)+trucks(RII180mm)+hardware weight is 6.4 lbs.

I think the material works out pretty well. It holds the concave and VERY flexible (too flexible for my taste). I finished this board about a week ago and the concave is still good today, I were afraid of acrylic flatten out the concave. I also jumped on the board multiple times and it didn't break.

I am definitely going to use acrylic as core again, I'm thinking about making a DH board with this material but with more maple to make it stiffer, maybe: 2ply-acrylic-3ply-fiberglass-stringer.

the wood burned image is from Operation Ivy, a quintessential ska band, in case some of you didn't know where it was from or know of it at all. ska dancing is called skanking, hence the name.

May I present the aptly named Lead Sled for your consideration.
48" long, 10.5" wide, weighing in at an impressive 12 lbs as loaded with Indy 215's and Retro 70mm's. (tried some clear green wheels in a couple shots, but like the yellow).
Made from solid Ipe and Hard Maple, dowelled at every joint and finished like a grand piano.

I've never seen anything like it! haha... if anything, you should win for the most unique design...

Well here is my entry in this build off. This board has about everything in it except the kitchen sink. Being it was an open build I also made a custom matching helmet, as seen here-
Super full race custom bell drop build/modification
and as a joke I even did up some matching shoes!
The board is a DH board, 40 X 10.5 with 5/8 concave with my rendition of w concave as seen here-

ok, now for the good stuff-
Baltic Birch vlam, glued up then ran thru the plain


Then I cut out the center and added foam core

Then I pressed it with fiberglass and cross grain maple topped off top and bottom with bamboo



cut out and added wconcave


primmed and painted gloss white

Finished with an 80's inspired paint job done with paint pens.
the top graphic has ea little checker done in grip.

I figured I would shoot for the expert contest since I'm not really a beginner, but wouldn't consider myself an expert yet. I'm very excited to be able to be apart of a contest here on silverfish!

there are some absolutely incredible boards in this years contest! I'm going to have a very hard time picking only three favs. this is great!

haha, yes! I considered the circle jerks one first but then felt the OpIv one fitted better with the theme of the board.
there will be a dancer or two made in the near future, though.

Thats exactly how the shoes came about. My friends were bustin on me about the helmet and board matching and started to say things like this.
I had some old vans that were checkered and thought it would be funny

Glad to see Dimm's entry pushing the limits, and Piedogger's matching set is excellent as well.

This entry Consists of a board with homemade wheels, a new style of toe clip, a Sector 9 deck, and Independent trucks.

The wheels are made out of UHMW. They slide like nothing else, and are very durable.

The toe clip idea is to have a quick release binding that doesn't get in the way of using the board as usual, mainly for jumping curbs while traveling around the city. Works great.

Each toe clip is two bars of metal sandwiched together. The bottom bar has cutouts in it to keep the shoe stub from sliding sidways out of the clip.
