well good work that is an amazing finish! wish i had your patience... mine is looking nothing like that! next time...

Thanks! I made the board out of a plank of cedar wood. Not the best material, but it worked like a champ until I tried to make it a drop through.

It's 52" long with a 42" wheelbase. I designed it to be just short enough to fit in my subaru's hatch sideways. The current version is 1/2" BB (9 ply) with 3 ply 6oz. on both sides. Pretty flexible - if my edges touch down too much while carving i'm going to laminate a couple hardwood stringers on, then get to work on another board (probably hardwood laminations, a little thinner board, and some carbon/kevlar and fiberglass) with some rocker.
Sorry about the crappy pics, it's raining out right now and i finished it this morning. Junk lighting, and the camera is terrible in lowlight.
This is version 2.0:
And version 1:
Version 1.5 (variant P) and version 2.5 (variant J) are with friends...
Nice work! What trucks are you using? those are beautiful!

Re: homemade dancers?
Original S8's on black springs, with S9 nineballs and some random bearings from somewhere. Need different wheels - the nineballs don't have nearly enough stick. The trucks make this an awesome cruiser - plenty of room to relax through town and enough turn to do a full circle in one lane.
The top board looks way nicer in person - the edges are stained an orangey tan color, and the shape of the board and wheel wells (they have more flavor than you can see) really stands out against the dark red top and bottom.
The other one we completed a couple days ago is on Original S10's - can't wait to ride it.
EDIT: here is a picture that shows the edge color:

the banana as it is there cost me about 20 dollars just need to go get grip and paint now another roughly 30 dollars. In South Africa that is not small change... comes to about 350 rand.

ok maybe i make it sound worse than it is, it just to cool to see prices for stuff that are only double figures. most things you guys get in the states are(seem) a lot cheaper. To get your prices to my currency i have to times by 8... :P but you just shop around and make creative plans and things still happen.
oh bread would be about 10 Rand that would make it just over a dollar for a loaf of bread. but lets rather talk skateboards... much more fun!

Re: homemade dancers?
Finished!

This thread totally inspired me to build this beast. 60x9.5 with a 40 WB, 5/8th BB with 2 cross and nice flex under my 180lbs. Bit of camber across the WB and some concave in the middle towards the tail. It has a flat nose and a decent tail. I currently have Indy's on it because I haven't got anything else, but it still rides pretty nice with the bushing setup. With some Randals or Originals it would be killer.
OP, have you gotten your sander back from your creeper neighbor yet?

And I think it would be hard to get a nice symetrical line around that last ply that is shaped through.
I have been adding concave to vlam boards using a tablesaw and an orbital sander. Start with blade height at concave depth, rip the board enough times to get your flat spot and then start incrementally raising/shifting the blade and just keep flipping the deck. It sounds like it would take forever but it really doesnt and its a good way to keep it all accurate. Not sure how it would do on plywood over time, but worth an experiment!

Make one, you won't regret it.
What kind of wood is that made of? im looking into making one but not sure on what wood

Re: homemade dancers?
Anybody willing to custom design a homemade dancer for me? I wouldn't even know where to begin as far as making one myself. I'd really love to design one myself, just don't have the knowledge or resources on how to build a custom board.
