Default glass pre or post shaping?

I'll be using fiberglass on a board for the first time in a few days and I'm looking to see how the builders here approach the fiberglass/CF layers of their boards. Do you shape the wood first then 'glass the finished board (as I've seen in Ted's CF tutorial) or do you treat the 'glass layer as another lamination and shape the entire layup? Assume for the purposes of this question that we're only dealing with horizontal lamination.

    Thanks in advance.

I've only made one board, so no expert by any means. Vvac bagged it, cut it to shape and then glassed the bottom, and hot coated a second coat of resin and sanded it down for a nice smooth finish.
Skate 'em if you got 'em,

either way works. just depends on how many jig saw blades u have to use um im just glassing mine. i think just putting it on and wrapping around the edges will work for me. its a preference i believe

I agree with the fact that its a preference thing... though i believe shaping then glassing seems more efficient (in terms of both time and jigsaw blades ) I like glassing, waiting for green stage (which i do see with cheap epoxy resin), then just smooth as butter cutting the excess off, very little sanding to be had.

I could see cutting the finished product to shape as being more difficult only because i don't trust jig saws to make a smooth finish on glass, i could see fray/delam issues here... but maybe i'm just thinking about it too much.

Good luck, i like my fiberglass build so far, though its been VERY time consuming, it's been mostly my fault! so enjoy it and just take your time learning what you need to do.

You can certainly do it either way. In laminating the glass as a layer, do this only in a vac bag or a very precise mold press. Most presses have uneven pressure, resulting in a crappy laminate.
Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. You must try them all before finding the one you like the best.

I went with the "shape then 'glass" option as it seems more popular and a more efficient use of materials, came out nicely via vac bag. Thanks everyone for the input.
