    Default Plausible

I have a bustin strike with clear grip. I want to take the grip off and use a sharpie paint marker to write This Machine Kills Fascists on the top of the deck and then re apply clear grip. Would this work? Is the grip transparent enough? I know its probably best to sand, paint and seal, but I dont want to do all that, nor do I have the means to, and I want it to look like sharpie, like this: Bumper Sticker: This Machine Kills Fascists http://prokrastinering.files.wordpre...9/06/lkeio.jpg

Any help would be very much appreciated.

That'll work...I'd definitely recommend putting a couple clear coats over the paint marker.

the clear grip is clear enough to show through...

an alternative to make it look really good, is to just get the bumper sticker and put it on the board, and regrip over it, no clear coating required.

Hey - we aren't supposed to have politics here! Any fascists who see this might be offended.

The quote is from Woody Guthrie; it was written on his guitar.

hahaha, my apologies to the fascist longboarders reading this thread.

Did you google that, or just familiar with woody? If its the latter, much respect. Woody Guthrie was a man way, way ahead of his time.

I have some clear grip, it's not very transparent, and it's not very good as far as grip tape goes (Got the stuff from Daddies). It does show whatever is underneath, but I don't think it would show text very well because it blurs things somewhat.

What do you think about a custom grip job?: sharpie letters, a little bare wood around the letters, and black grip in the negative space.

Either way you might need to use mineral spirits or another solvent to get the residue from the old grip off.

and pics when it's done please!

Yeah yeah you'll be fine. Actually I don't recommend clearcoating over the sharpie because the ink tends to run. FOr whatever reason no matter what I've used (water-based or other) the sharpie always runs. I always sharpie over clearcoat.
