but what can i add 1 or 2 maple layers to give it added strength
if doing a dh board with cf bb is fine, maple will just make it stiffer which is not always the best of things, 4 ply bb with cf should do you just fine.

well 2 works.. well. it has a short open workable life. titebond 3 has a nice long open work time, so if you are working with say 5 plys. and glue both sides, like you are suppose to, then it will use almost all of the open time with 2. then you wont have enough time to put it in the press... so it will have more snap back. titebond 3 works great when doing complicated layups that take more than 15 from the first layer of glue to the last clamp, and no adjustments.

i learned about wood working from my grandpa who was a shop teacher for 20 years, my uncle who is a carpenter, and my dad who is a Trained Gunsmith/Engraver. And i get Material advise from experts from rockler woodworks, and Piedmont lumberyard. i have a membership there that gets me a 25% discount, which cuts the cost of glue a lot, making 3 worthwhile. the employes wont even touch 1, or 2 for their own projects.

and think of it this way, you wouldn't want to ride something that is subpar if you were to buy it. you would expect the best in the layup. so why would you be willing to compromise when building something yourself, just to save 5 dollars.
