I had something similar happen to me a while back. I had my router table mounted, and was routing a channel in some wood. The piece of wood kicked out causing the hand that was applying pressure to the side of the piece to move into the blade. Luckily I had a safety paddle on top which went straight down into the bit slowing it to a stop. My left middle finger tip came out a bit hamburgered (imagine a series of deep cuts, but no ripped out chunks). It took around 3/4 months before the scab was finally gone, and I could use the finger with out pain.

Funny thing was that I was crafting a board at the time.

Anyway, I wish you a speedy recovery. It is going to suck, but you will have an interesting scar to show folks.

I think chain mail slide gloves would be the next new thing, super durable and shiny

I'm with ya, table saws=scary. My buddy Phil has a history with those. I'd post some pics if I had them.

Trying to keep this one alive. Great title, and lots of fun.

Seems like as good a thread as any for this:

My belt sander attacked me today, at least all my digits are still intact.

was operating a small milling machine in the early '70s, was shown how to put the aluminium pc in the vice, mill it and take it out. don't need to turn the machine off when taking the milled pc out and putting the next one in. did a few then touched the cutter with the left hand pointing finger, split it from the tip back about a inch, down to the bone. then the co posted a note from the insurance company using my name and stating that i should receive more training got that note taken down pretty quick. told one of the owners i was doing the job the way i was trained. should have never listened to ol' Moe. this is when i started critical thinking when other humans were involved in my well being
