    Default My first build.

Thanks to the people who answered my questions when I was stuck, and to DIMM for posting the mold video. Now on to the pics:

Its 42 inches long, 32.5 inch wheelbase. I was aiming for a 2 inch drop but got 1.5 instead, which actually worked out nicely for me. Its kinda hard to see the concave but its there, only 3/8ths of an inch.

Used 5 ply of BB because I wanted it to be stiff, and wanted to save experimenting with fiberglass for the second board. I'm also thinking about adding a stringer to the next one, I'm just not sure if I should throw a 1/4 inch stringer into the mold or add it later.

Yea I really had no idea how it was gonna come out of the mold. You have 20 inches of space between the 2 points where the board starts to rise, and resting my feet slightly on the rise felt pretty comfortable too.

Forgot to add, it is 10 inches wide.

Didn't use a vacuum bag only because I'm way too broke to even consider buying one right now. I would really like to get one and try it out, if for no other reason than to avoid having to tighten 12 bolts every time I wanna press a board. Used the DIMM press, very similar to the one he built in the video.

cool thats a sweet build... yea i dont use a vacuum bag either (broke a*s) I use a toothless style press.. Would like to try the dimm method soon tho.. i want to build a drop deck. I thought it would be too much for a first build but you proved me wrong! PS. can you post some pics of your press??

I'll add pics of the press tomorrow. One thing I should mention is, I pressed 2 ply overnight, then 3 ply separately. Then I glued the 2 boards together and pressed them. I'm only saying this because until I press 5 at the same time, I don't know how that would change the outcome, if at all. Who knows, maybe if I went for 5 right away this drop deck would have been too much for me to handle for a first build.

Once again thanks for the comments. I'm wondering if someone could help me with adding a stringer to my next board. How exactly would I bend it to the shape of the board? Steam it or just glue and clamp it to a finished board?

I'm thinking of trying to make a similar deck, but reducing weight by only using 3 ply of bb and using a 1/4 inch stringer along the bottom for stiffness. I would also glass it if it was still flexy.
