I put my decals down by sanding out my epoxy, applying my decal, and then adding a finishing coat of epoxy. The thicker epoxy smooths out very nicely over the edges of the decal giving a nice factory look.

Don't know how well it'd work, I'm guessing the poly won't stick all that well to vinyl but the best way to find out is to try it. Worst case scenario, you sand it back down and refinish it.

I think it would be alright as long as the sticker is not one of those really thick ones. Stickers stick to fiberglass LIKE HELL. You ain't getting them off after you've stuck them. And using poly after that I think should hide the edges of the sticker. I mean... it depends on the thickness of the sticker. I have some clear loaded stickers which are incredibly thin but also have some thicker paper-based ones which are damn thick.

Why don't you just try it on scrap wood?
