When I say "ghetto", I'm talking about used scrap that had lived life previously as a cabinet door, and then a shelf. It had probably been in the weather a few times, too.
But the object was to see if I could shape it, and I did.

Surfer, your shape looks a lot like a MellowMotion. It worked for them, why not for you?

I made a gorgeous 48" board out of regular Home Depot plywood. I used 19/23" plywood with one good side and covered the bad side with grip tape. It looks good. And rides good.

bad shapes suck. using bad/ crappy wood will work ok, but under shaping or over bending sucks, especially when the wood cracks. the best boards are usually the simple ones.

I once designed a completely odd looking board called "The Snake" (not to be confused with Snakeboards).

It had a forked tail, huge wheel cutouts, wider than the Pacific, and it would have suited slalom or something.

I am glad I never made it.
