End of Year Contest... "entry hint"
My materials list includes:
2 sheets CF
2 sheets 1/16" kevlar
3 Layers of a secret material that's being "invented" in my chem lab...
Board shape:
Dropthrough/Drop-platform speed board (basic shape stolen from Demonseed)
Trucks:
Randall R2 180 Front
Randall DH rear
Wheels:
Pinks (size to be determined)
If all goes well I hope to create the worlds lightest speed deck...

Your grammar leads me to beleive that you are not someone who would be able to produce something like that which you speak of.

Re: End of Year Contest... "entry hint"
Well, I for one think that there should be a class in the comp. for those who use an all wood make-up and those who use materials such as carbon fibre and fibreglass....

never thought of a split that way, but it would make sense, traditional wood vs foam core/wood core fiberglasses decks is like comparing apples to oranges but what about the decks that just have a layer of fiberglass for protection ?

does anyone know what the weight of the lightest deck in production is? Atleast a rough estimate??
thanks all... and good luck to everyone, I'm hoping to see some awesome inovations come from this contest.

V2, but I tweeked it a bit to pull up to 29 hg with alot more adjustability as far as when it kicks on and off as Hg drops. I cant believe how well it works, I can vacuum bag several decks at a time, kicks on maybe twice in 4 days of curing to "suck" more pressure.
Making the press, the bag, the molds...alotta friggin prep work, but now it all pays off and is consistant.
I just put two in tonight! Kinda copied the "big bug" or "indiana boards" style this time 42 inches long/8.75 wide.

Most of the lighter composite boards come in somewhere around 0.1oz/sq.inch of surface area. This is a little better way to measure board weight by construction materials, methods and design criteria because a 30" Roe will not be the same as a 40" Wefunk will not be the same as a Maui which is not the same as Fatboy'Boo etc....
Using the 0.1oz/sq.inch yields up 24oz's (1.5lbs) for a slalom board of ~ 8.75" X 30" when you factor in the drawn up nose and tail.

I dunno, I think that laying glass etc... is a skill that has to be acquired and finessed no matter what it is for, but I'll leave it to Sniffless and the like...

you mean flushcut.

If we get more entries on a regular basis and more composite entries we'll do the classes. As it has been in the past, we have not had enuff people participating to afford to break the playing field down into classes. As this thing grows I'd love to see different catagories of building. One day.
