you want to search for screen printing, not screen painting.

it is the same thing. It's called screen printing not silk screening because silk has not been used as screen material since artificial fibers became more common.

now dont get technical cause it is still called silk screening, and is also called screen printing even thoe the typical fabric material is monofilament polyester mesh, but to answer the orginal question, i would say go to a library and pick up the book "how to print t-shirts for fun and profit" it covers all the areas need plus more, even thoe is directed at t-shirts mainly, its still the basis for printing on anything else.
I own a copy of the revised edition and it is a very good book, i was actually reading it earlier today

Silk screening is a method, screen printing is the subject...not to be a snob but i am a print maker at art school and do a quite a bit of screen printing my self.

i just printed for the first time on some flat baltic birch (will post pics later) and will be trying to print on some maple veneer and then press it. I am also working on a method to create custom iregularly shaped screens for deck printing (if what i think will work you can make screens for cheep and fast).

can't think of any good resourses, but if you have anyquestions once you get the basics down, let me know.

I was just clarifying after what crappy said.
If you are screening onto boards with concave, you will need a hand-stretched screen, the ones you buy, or that are machine stretched are too tight to conform to the shape.
But seriously, i read that same book after i had already been screenprinting for a few months... it kicks ass. Read it before you do anything else.

Default save yourself a metric schload of time

dude, i figured out a much quicker way if you just need the stencil for 2 or 3 boards- get black and white image on your computer, photoshop, tweak it, whatever works- print it out and put a sheet of that adhesive laminade material on from any office store. then, just trace the outline with a soldering iron, cuts through like a champ. slap it on the board and whip out a can of your favorite spray paint. problem though, spra paint kill the stencil after a couple uses, but an airbrush with any water based paint or even a squirt bottle full of ink should do the trick. if you want to see an example, thats how i made my avatar spraying white on grip tape. hope that helps!

There are alot of ways to apply graphics besides screen printing, it is good to explore everything and find different ways to achieve the same product. I wouldn't recommend screening graphics on a skateboard, but its fun to get into and you can print on pretty much anything once you get the hang of it.

to get a graphic onto a board with concave, you can just use an over sized screen and use a squeege that has a high gelatine content, so that it has enough give for the shape.

Hey guys, thanks. I guess what I meant was silk screening, all of your advice was helpful, and I even found some pretty neat info on the web after searching a second time. I'll post what I come up with later!

    Thanks again.
