    Default Ply and Fiberglass Questions

I'm going to make a 53" board, wheelbase of 41" with slight camber. I have some 1/8' baltic birch plywood to make it.

How thick should I make the core if I plan to have a layer of fiberglass on both top and bottom? I weigh 175lb and want a snappy ride. Not too flexy.

What oz. glass should I use?

    Thanks for the help.

if adding concave 5/8"mabey less, 3/4" without fiberglass will probably achieve the feel your looking for, well minus the snap fiberglass adds but still stiff

i would go 1/2. use 4 ply's of that 1/8 inch (which will give you slightly more than 1/2inch) and you'll be set after adding glass. for glass, i would suggest something like 8 oz. are you vac bagging or just laying it on there?

I plan on just laying the glass on.

I'm leaning toward 1/2 or 5/8. I built a 60"/42" wb board that was 3/4" thick, no glass. It is fine for flex but not too springy.

I would like to do 1/2 but the board is going to be a gift and I don't want it to break on the guy.

Do you think that 1/2" thick with 8oz on each side would work for a 41" wheelbase?

have you considered dong glass in the core instead, or along with the top and bottom?
