    Default Snowboard Conversion to Longboard?

Hey everyone, I usually ride a Gravity 37" diamond tail and a 28" pool board for cruising but I just have this thought and i thought i'd ask if anyone has ever tried using a short snowboard (maybe 57") as a conversion to a longboard, with trucks wheels and everything, it sounds really interesting to try if i can get a cheap old snowboard. Anyone ever try this before? please let me know how it went or what you think of this idea =]

i suggest using the search function, as this topic has been covered quite a few times, but to give the just of it due to flexiness you have to either go very very short or reinforce the board itself, so more or less not worth the effort

The only competition in life is yourself, but be warned it loves to throw challenges in your face, just to make it a fun experience..

its also popular to find and use really old and wide trick waterskis (the hardwood ones)

Snowboards are usually too soft (unless you have an old race board or 80 gnu)
If you do this you need to put in a stiffining beam between the trucks or add a composite layer. Some people have had success making shoter slalom boards. it is up to you.

Think about what a snowboard is suspoded to do - FLEX - and how far? the bottom of a stock board would probably drag on the ground.

but, if you have a board to chop, why not. experimentation is have the fun.

One of kids boards at the board rental shop that I work at had the holes stripped, so one of the guys is trying to come up with someway to mount trucks to it. It is kinda flexy, but it is very short. He hasnt worked on it for a while though, so i dont know how it will turn out.

It works and it works well. when i was in arizon at U of A (where my sis goes) i meet up with some pretty cool long boarders and most of them cruise campus and surounding area on snowboard longboards (snlongboards) . the only sugestion i can give you is test out the flex with different lenghts befor you cut it up. the end result of this is an ubber fun snlong board!

Try cutting your own shape out of it. I did it with an old Kemper Snowboard that I bought at the thrift store for 10 bucks and it worked great.

    Default snowboard conversion

Man, I saw this dude ROLLIN' on an old snowboard with some kind of big trucks and rubber off-road type wheels. It was ugly, but it was working. I have no idea what was involved with the conversion.Seems to me that 3 aluminum stringers (middle and each side) 1/8" thick might make it stiff enough.Next time I see an old snowboard at GoodWill.........
