WHOA! i thought id tell you guys about be being a total dumba$$ today. i was about to do my first vac composite work and after i had everything layed up and in the bag with the pump going i realized that i put the wrong ratio pump on the hardener.

LEARN FROM ME!!!

gheez i feel dumb. i guess making mistakes is one way to learn, i just wish it wasn't so depressing

don't tell me that you rely on a hand pump to get your ratio? guy like you's gotta have a scale around. no?

heheheh.

it didn't turn out as bad as it could have, i managed to save all of the wood and some of the carbon fiber (thank god i was only using 3" tape) help in place nicely.

West Marine 2 part epoxy.

Wrong pump.

Been there.

Done that.

Sucks.

Won't do it again.

If you end up finding your self buying more and more resin , just shoot your self or go get a cheapo digital scale . Fiberglass hawaii sells a very competent one for about $35 . I'm sorry to say that their web site hasn't been finished for like the last 7 years , so you won't find it there unless you call . Pumps suck , especially in colder climates .

I did that too, but on a windsurf board repair. I had two different sized containers of Epoxy. I grabbed the gallon jug of resin and the smaller container of what I thought was catalyst. Big no no! After sitting for 2 days waiting for my repair to harden I finally figured it out. Resin and resin mixed together produces resin.
