    Default My 1st board

    Hello, long time reader first time writer.

    So the other day I was like hey I want to make a board.

    I like it but the problems are cut wrong way so lots of sanding then the shape does not really stop wheel bite, in front got sander happy broke on though to the next layer.

    Would love to get some tips and constructive critisisum, from all you rad 8) guys.

    welcome to the fish.
    you can only have one first. plan on making a lot of mistakes, then again some mistakes have lead to innovation.

    looks like you did alright... only problem i see is the direction of the grain.
    if you can't understand what's right...
    ...there will be nothing left.

    for a first board i thnk it turned out pretty good. i like the shape. except for the nose i think its pretty good

    I'm use to seeing decks made with the grain of the wood along the length of the deck. Did you shape it the other way around for some other reason?

    Yo definitely ride with us sometime soon! We get a good amount of people at our sessions. That is a very nice first board, but next time try and remember to make your board with the grain of the wood. I don't think it matters that much, cuz baltic birch alternates with grain and then crossgrain. But if the two outside layers are crossgrain then that means there are more cross than straight.

    Thanks for the advice the grain thing was a problem becuase it made it for alot more sanding.

    Cant wait to test it out, snowing out side

    What are the dimensions of it dude? length width and how wide are those trucks?

    Cross grain is going to make the board torsionally stiff. Which means that when you carve the board will transfer the energy to the trucks (good). Having the grain run lenght wise makes the board less saggy and prone to breakage. You want mor of your grains to run length wise than cross. Hope this helps. Nice shape.
