Board image

Hey guys,
I got a question today, it's about printing an image on my next longboard.
So i found that company like bustin or rekiem are using a system to print an image on the board.
They use a type of special «substance» on the one they got an image.
After they put paint on it and it shows it on the board. What is that substance.

Heres a video from where i see it. At 13 second exactly, it shows it.

That is called screenprinting. Google it to find out more. It'll probably be more work than you want to go through if you're printing one board. You have to make a screen and burn the image onto it. It'll probably cost more than you'd want to pay for a single board's design too. I'd go with painter's tape and spraypaint for a single board if I were you.

You can get printer capable decals or use rice paper to do something similar for your own boards.

Or you can find a big picture frame and staple screen fabric to it so that you don't have to pay $100 for a screen. Talk to AM Wood about it sometime. I remember seeing him talking about screenprinting his boards. There might be something that you have to do to account for the curves of the board if you print it after pressing.

didn't we print it before curving it?

You could do it either way, I suppose. If you print it before, you might run the risk of that sheet shifting in the press and the graphic getting out of place.

i got another question.
Exemple bustin and other compagny make some board in black on the sides and in the background they dont let the board in his original color.(the color of the veneer) What paint does they put on? is that in spray? exemple: http://media.bustinboards.com/images.../thumbs_63.jpg

It's way easier to print the veneer before pressing it,and yes you need to be sure to line it up properly. It's tough printing on contoured boards.
