Hi fishes.
I have already posted this on the lush forum but as I have taken so much info from this here forum I thought I'd give some back.....
So I present to you all my latest press. ok it IS simple but it sure does work well.
Here it is dismantled:
And how I built the wedge to form the kicktail:
Here is a board in press shot:
And a kick tail in the press being clamped:
It results in this:
This I then cut, stained, painted, varnished and gripped and I ended up with a 38 inch deck with a tasty tiki face...Nice.
This thing is the bomb!! When combined with 65mm Lush Cannonballs its a slip sliding beast.
This press was really easy to make, the only slightly hard bit was getting the right angle on the wedge support (to make the kicktails).
To do this I set the angle of my hand held circular saw to the desired angle and cut the piece. It was then easy to screw onto this a bit of left over 6mm ply which then formed the wedge.
One benefit of doing it this way (as you can see in the pics) is that i was able to clamp the kick tail to the press. I did not do this in my 1st board from the press and it the layers seperated a bit.
This worked a right treat for me, 3 bits of 4mm birch plywood, some titebond III glue, and hey presto a nice slide deck.
Hope this inspires someone to go do summit.....
