    Default Longboarding workshops...learning the art.

Alright, I've been in search of high quality ply wood for longboard for the longest time now. It seems only logical to seek out a workshop of sorts where longboards are produced. The concept of building my own deck has always been appealing (involving the concave work and so forth). If anybody has any info that could get me started it would be much appreciated. The areas that I will be include all of Virginia, New Mexico and the surrounding areas of the two. Thanks

Just call up your local cabinet maker and ask them where they buy their birch or maple or??... plywood.

...and please stop talking so loud, I can see you just fine.

Try a boat restoration place if there is one in your area. They might be able to get you a line on marine ply. I buy my stuff at a wood working supply place.

There are a couple of places in ABQ that sell cabinet-grade maple for much less than Alpine in SF... though Alpine is the only place in SF that sells it. Don't know what Lost Almost has to offer, but I bet it's worth the drive to ABQ.

Cabinet ply baby... if ya wanna bend it that is. Otherwise, marine is good for a flat deck.
