The "Pool Dweller"
Hey,
here is my latest build, the "pool dweller" if you will. I designed it for pool skating and sliding, but I'll probably end up skating it for everything else too, knowing me.
anyways, I built it from 7 plys of hard rock Canadian maple. I used titebond III for glue. On this one, I actually put the board into a vacuum bag and then into the wood press. By doing this, it allowed my to build an extremely simple mold because I only had to build a mold that would bend the wood, and not bend and clamp, because the vacuum bag was doin' the clamping (and quite sufficiently!). I put 20* angled kicks and a load of concave, at about 3/4" deep when the board was uncut (12" wide). I cut it down to 8.5" wide, with a 20" wheelbase, a 7.25" nose, and an 8.5" tail. I set it up with Randall 150s and and G bones wheels. this thing is a demon!
in the mold:

uncut, out of mold:

cut, unpainted, concave/kick view:

after some paint:

and here's shizz with grip:

another view:

lemme know whatcha think! no one around here actually believes me when I tell them I make boards, haha, so I have to go on here to brag.

Re: The "Pool Dweller"
Thanks guys 8)
And the dual method works great! like I said, it really alows you to build the simplest wood press possible, as long as it bends the wood. You don't even have to worry about even pressure or clamps, because the vac bag does it for you.
this board is a beast! And it's actually alot larger than it looks, it's a tad over 40".

Re: The "Pool Dweller"
that is so sweet!! if I put some c clamps on the wood and forgot the vacum bag (cause it's expensive) would it still work?
I LOVE JESUS!!!!!!!!
